10/14/25

There were so many close games across the NFL in week 6 but a lot of favorites were victorious despite tests. With just two teams on a bye this week, we were back up in total number of games to 15 and there were a lot of field goal heavy games with some long kicks as well. That would be fitting because Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge would once again come down to the tiebreaker. After a miserable week last week for our contestants, the average shot up to 9 total points this week but two separated themselves.

A Monday night doubleheader would give a few contestants a chance to catch Mike Lowder who had 12 points with his only miss entering Monday night coming on the Giants upset of the Eagles on Thursday. Easton Hargrave had 11 going into Monday night and Jeff Johnson had 11. Mike would miss both Monday night games with Atlanta taking down Buffalo and Chicago beating Washington on a last second field goal. Jeff was eliminated as he missed both too but Easton correctly picked the Bears while also missing the Atlanta-Buffalo showdown. We went to the tiebreaker and the total field goal yardage was 2,194 yards. That resulted in a heartbreaker for Easton who guessed 2,200 which put him over by just six yards, giving Mike the win with his low guess of 700. Price is Right giveth and Price is Right taketh away.

To continue along with the theme of the 2025 contest, two new names join the Postseason Tournament as Mike and Easton lock in their spots to run the total up to 12 out of a possible 36. Mike also beat the Professor (shocker) and nets $27 to go along with his qualification into the postseason and his chance to win the Ticket Bonanza! That includes two tickets to the Mariners, Seahawks, Kraken, Sounders, Storm, Tacoma Rainiers, and Emerald Downs. We are still looking for our first entrant to block out a spot but for now, 12 people have locked in their spots with 24 spots still available. Everyone can continue to enter even if you have already won to try to keep that field as small as possible to increase their chances of winning.

It was another very good showing for Professor DW who finished with 11 total points, only missing four games in total. The games he missed weren’t too bad except for the Professor assuring us that New Orleans would beat the New England who is being overhyped. However, the Patriots grinded out another win but DW did call Kansas City getting back on track over Detroit. He is getting closer and closer and the end of the drought could be in sight.

The least picked upset of the week was Thursday night’s stunner of the New York Giants upsetting the defending Super Bowl champions in Philadelphia. Only Kelsey Hergert and Todd Sayre correctly called the rookies of New York knocking off the champs. Other upsets that weren’t a popular choice were Carolina over Dallas and Atlanta over Buffalo.

Week 7’s contest is up. The deadline to get your entry in is 4pm on Thursday so get signed up now. Congratulations Mike and Easton and best of luck to everyone this week.
