Week 10 of the NFL season was about as crazy and sloppy as possible with some abysmal primetime games along with nasty kicking conditions and plenty of upsets. It also brought quite a bit of chaos to Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge with some late drama as well as a very surprising conclusion that would need the tiebreaker once again to decide the winners. Six contestants still had a chance going into Monday night but only one would take home the cash

Four contestants sat with 10 points going into Monday night’s game between Philadelphia and Green Bay and all of them picked Philadelphia to get the big road win. Two contestants had nine and picked Green Bay which gave them a chance to even things up. However, a sloppy and low scoring end to week 10 saw the Eagles beat the Packers 10-7 which moved four contestants up to 11 and pushed us to the tiebreaker once again.

Here is where things got interesting. Stephen Gruginski tried to hit the total right on the money with a guess of 1,789 while Jake Moe and Mike Lowder went very low with 800 and 700 respectively. The fourth contestant was Carlo Marinuzzi who went with a usually safe guess of 1,370. However, it was a very light kicking week with bad weather conditions for kicking along with low scoring games. That gave us the lowest total field goal yardage in a week this season with just 1,308. That meant Stephen and Carlo were over which gave the win to Jake while Mike earned a second place finish.

Mike Lowder won week 6 so he takes up another spot in the Postseason Tournament to increase his chances of winning the Ticket Bonanza. Jake earned his first win of the season to add his name to the mix for the Postseason Tournament and brings the total number of entrants up to 18 with 16 spots still available. The winner of the Postseason Tournament will have their chance to take home the Ticket Bonanza! That includes two tickets to the Mariners, Seahawks, Kraken, Sounders, Storm, Tacoma Rainiers, and Emerald Downs. Everyone can continue to enter even if you have already won to try to keep that field as small as possible to increase their chances of winning.

DW has lost his title as Professor after another embarrassing performance which ranks up there as one of the worst ever. Out of the 14 games played, DW correctly predicted five of the games correctly and was not even relatively close to his field goal yardage guess either. While it wasn’t as bad as the previous week, it wasn’t really better and I think it is safe to say that DW stands for “Doesn’t Watch” because there is no way this guy actually watches NFL football with these picks.

The least picked upset of the week was by far Miami stunning Buffalo in a blowout that saved Mike McDaniel’s job more than likely. Only two contestants saw that one coming as Lori Mohney and MJ Hargrave had some sort of secret knowledge in calling that upset. Other upsets that were rarely picked were New Orleans taking down Carolina and the Jets beating the Browns in a matchup of two terrible teams.

Week 11’s contest is up. The deadline to get your entry in is 4pm on Thursday so get signed up now. Congratulations Jake and Mike and best of luck to everyone this week.
