Lincoln (Tacoma) Abes 83, North Thurston Rams 40
(Lacey, WA) The PSL was one of the most entertaining leagues in the state last year, with every team able to beat any other on any given night. This year, the league is just as formidable. The Lincoln Abes and North Thurston Rams each had a pair of league games under their belt, so there’s no easing into the 2025-26 season for each of them. Lincoln won their first two games while North Thurston lost their first two league games, but won their season opener over North Mason. While it’s early, these league games carry great significance when the PSL Tournament rolls around in two months, which made this mid-December clash all the more important.
Lincoln jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead, forcing North Thurston to use a quick timeout. O’Shea Lamar had a three in the early stretch of the game while getting support from his big man, Justus Holt. North Thurston had a triple poured in by their freshman, Deshawn Cavalier, but Lincoln had the answer to everything the Rams threw at them. Lincoln forced North Thurston into the bonus as the Rams trailed by four at 14-10, but the fouls piled up for the home squad. North Thurston entered the bonus and cashed in from the free throw line, but Lincoln added some late points to take a 21-13 lead going into the second quarter.
In the second, Jaiden Williams came off the bench for Lincoln and provided a spark, getting a pair of buckets for the Abes. Justus Holt had four more points in the second as he led all first-half scorers with nine points. Lincoln’s defensive pressure was turned up a couple of notches as the Abes held North Thurston to just six second-quarter points. Lincoln had eight different scorers in the first half, with Holt leading them and Kasey Williams not too far behind with seven points. Lincoln led 37-19 at the break.
Lincoln’s scoring continued in the third quarter, as the Abes had their highest single-quarter point total of the night. Lincoln dropped 24 points in the third, with Davion Shareef-Dulaney getting seven points in the quarter, including a three-pointer. Justus Holt continued to score, as he had another six points in the quarter. Brady Hertzog had a good quarter for North Thurston, scoring six points himself, but the Rams were outscored by 10 in the third as Lincoln took a 61-33 lead into the fourth. The Abes threw down some dunks as Shareef-Dulaney had one, and Jalan Lillie had two jams as Lincoln ran away with it, taking the win 83-40.
Our Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Lincoln’s Davion Shareef-Dulaney. Shareef-Dulaney had 19 points, 15 of them in the second half, three three-pointers, a powerful dunk, and caused havoc defensively. He also set his teammates up to score when he didn’t make a field goal in the first half, playing very selfless ball all night.
Justus Holt had 15 points for the Abes, while Jalan Lillie finished with 12, and Kasey Williams was the fourth Lincoln player in double figures with 10. O’Shea Lamar and Jaiden Williams had seven points, Uriah Wilson had five, Jaymari Byrd and Sione Kaho had three, and Noah Dennis had two points as 10 different Lincoln players scored.
North Thurston was led by Adam Meyer, who had nine points, seven of them late in the fourth quarter. A trio of Rams finished with seven points, Matthias TenKley, Deshawn Cavalier, and Brady Hertzog. Kole French had four points, Kendric Degraffreed and Caleb TenKley had two points, and Ryder Stevens and Toa Tunai had one point each.
Lincoln improves to 3-0 on the season and in PSL action. The Abes will face Gig Harbor on Saturday before returning home next Wednesday to host Bellarmine Prep.
North Thurston drops to 1-3 on the year and 0-3 in the PSL. The Rams are off until next Wednesday, when they host Timberline.
