Timberline 77, Capital 48

(Lacey, WA) The Timberline Blazers hosted the Capital Cougars in a Puget Sound Nisqually division match-up. The Cougars were looking to bounce back after dropping to River Ridge on Tuesday. Timberline, after playing a challenging non-conference schedule was trying to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Capital came out with a nice start behind a three from Marcus Snyder to answer the hot start for Timberline. The paint duo of Isaiah Tillman and Carmelo Roper were too much for the Cougars as Timberline dominated the boards. While the threes weren’t dropping for Timberline, Capital went on a scoring drought while Timberline made a living in the paint. Timberline continued with great defensive pressure and easy transition buckets as they led at halftime 32-21.

Mason Price was on fire to begin the second half for Capital to give the Cougars a strong paint presence. However, Tillman and Roper were still dominant on the offensive end for Timberline while Demari Evans picked up his own offensive output to add a third scorer to the Blazers rotation. Fouls continued to pile up for Capital as well but the Cougars were hesitant to shoot the three ball and every time they scored a couple of buckets, Timberline responded right back. Even when the teams emptied their benches, it was rebounding dominance by Timberline as they pulled away in the 4th quarter to take down Capital 77-48 in a wire-to-wire victory.

Timberline is now 4-4 in conference play and 4-8 overall. The Blazers will travel next Wednesday to Gig Harbor. Capital drops to 1-6 in league play and 3-7 overall. Capital will host Shelton on Saturday in a non-league contest.
