Melina Petramalo scored 28 points including six three-pointers as the Bellarmine Lions outlasted the Silas Rams 58-48. Bellarmine with the win earned a share of the top spot in the Narrows Division with a record of 6-2. Silas dropped to third in the division with a 5-3 record.
Bellarmine jumped out to a 18-9 lead in the first quarter with their aggressive defense and fast paced offense. Melina Petramalo led the charge in the first quarter with scoring 8 points. With Bellarmine Head Coach Kim Butler, Bellarmine showed up ready to compete with contributions all throughout the lineup. Silas stayed in pace with 8 first quarter points from Jordin Palu-Pinkett.
Melina Petramalo continued to lead Bellarmine in the second quarter. The senior continued her scoring pace with 7 in the second quarter. Bellarmine led 33-24 at halftime.
Silas went on to outscore Bellarmine 13-6 in the third quarter, highlighted by Silas hitting on a pair of three’s late, including a deep three-pointer from Aminah Mahmoud from near half court.
Bellarmine pulled away in the end thanks to Melina Petramalo sealing the game for Bellarmine from the free throw line. The Bellarmine 58-48 win ties them with Gig Harbor for the PSL Narrows Division lead.
