The number team in 3A Girls Basketball the Bellevue Wolverines used ten different scorers to come away with a 73-21 victory over the Decatur Golden Gators.
Bellevue ups their record on the season to 13-3. Decatur falls to 5-6.
Decatur came into the night with an undefeated record in NPSL play at 5-0 with hopes to come away with their first nonleague win of the season. Bellevue came into the night ranked as the number one team in 3A, highlighted by wins against Seattle Prep, Lake Washington, Eastside Catholic, and Woodinville.
Bellevue quickly set the tone early with their guard play. Syesha Simanton, Dilynn Johnson, and Nayvi Robinson were massive reasons for that. Avaieya Sinclair, Leilah Mullivai-Tobin, Tyanna Waltar combined for ten first quarter points. Bellevue led 22-10 after one quarter.
The Wolverines defense shined in the second quarter, holding Decatur to a single point, outscoring them 14-1. Bellevue took a 36-11 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Lucia Mayorquin shined, scoring double figures in the period with 10. The post play also was put on display in the second half for Bellevue, Iyla Jones scored eight in the second half while Trinity Palmer-Wilson scored eight of her own.
But the story of the game for Bellevue was Savannah Jeannot. Celebrating her birthday, Jeannot scored eight points off the bench for Bellevue.
The Wolverines came away with a 73-21 win. They turn their focus towards facing Eastlake next Friday, before facing last year’s 4A Finalist Sumner on MLK Day. Decatur faces Jefferson next Tuesday.
