PUYALLUP, WASH

In a clash of undefeated SPSL foes, the Emerald Ridge Jaguars delivered a complete, all-around performance to hand the Bonney Lake Panthers their first league loss, pulling away for a 69–54 victory.

With the win, Emerald Ridge maintains a two-game cushion over Puyallup atop the SPSL North standings. Despite the setback, Bonney Lake remains comfortably in front in the SPSL South, holding a three-game lead after Olympia’s loss to Puyallup.

Thursday night marked the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs and the first played at Emerald Ridge. The Jaguars entered having won all three previous matchups, including a 66–45 victory last season. With both teams undefeated in SPSL play and ranked ninth and tenth in the WIBCA Coaches Poll, the matchup had all the makings of a marquee showdown.

The opening quarter was played at a blistering pace. With no timeouts and minimal whistles, both teams pushed the tempo early. Bonney Lake jumped out to a 7–2 lead behind Eli Davis, while Emerald Ridge countered by feeding Jamaize McGriff early and often. The Panthers held a slim 17–16 edge after one quarter, powered by eight points from Cole Seminara, including a pair of three-pointers. It was clear from the outset that little would separate the evenly matched sides.

The second quarter continued the back-and-forth affair. Emerald Ridge stretched its lead to as many as eight before Bonney Lake answered. Keenan Perry poured in nine points in the period for the Panthers, keeping them within striking distance. When McGriff wasn’t scoring, Emerald Ridge’s depth carried the load, as seven different Jaguars found the scoring column. Emerald Ridge took a narrow 35–33 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Jaguars leaned on their star. McGriff’s impact on both ends of the floor fueled another surge, as he matched Bonney Lake’s entire output in the period with nine points of his own. Emerald Ridge extended its advantage to 49–42 heading into the fourth.

The final quarter showcased Emerald Ridge’s depth once again. Jordan Bennett knocked down multiple three-pointers as part of a 10-point fourth quarter to push the game out of reach. A Mychal Turner and-one followed by a Darius Alexander up-and-under scoop shot effectively sealed the outcome.

Emerald Ridge cruised to the 69–54 win, further padding its lead atop the SPSL North.
