Golf: Washington Getting New Destination Golf Resort In Tri-Cities

(Pasco, WA) Golf architect David McLay Kidd is returning to Washington to bequeath the Northwest with another gem of a golf course in the Tri-Cities. Along the Snake River, McLay Kidd and Kemper Sports are going to build and manage River Ranch Golf and Resort, which will be located 20 minutes from the Tri-Cities Airport. McLay Kidd will design the first golf course, which is expected to open to the public in August of 2027. With cliffs, bluffs, and the Snake River, McLay Kidd is going to bring another world-class course to the Northwest.

McLay Kidd designed the Bandon Dunes course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. McLay Kidd has also given Washington Gamble Sands and Scarecrow, which has made Brewster a spot for golf junkies to seek out. McLay Kidd is attempting to give the Washington coast a golf course with Westport Golf Links, but some hurdles are yet to be cleared before the famed architect can work his magic.

McLay Kidd is originally from Scotland, but resides in central Oregon, and DMK Golf Designs is located in Bend, Oregon. McLay Kidd is known for not just creating outstanding golf courses, but also for taking towns and cities and turning them into must-visit destinations. As Washington adds to their public golf portfolio, McLay Kidd knows the Northwest as well as anyone. His work has turned Bandon, Oregon, from a pass-through town on the 101 into one of the most sought-after golf areas in the world. Now, Brewster, Washington, is a place that golfers worldwide recognize as a splendid area of the state and country due to him bringing Gamble Sands and Scarecrow to life. The Tri-Cities will incontrovertibly thrive with this course, resort, and the tourism it’ll bring to the area.

On top of the 18-hole championship course, there will be guest cottages, real estate offerings, a membership with member-exclusive events, and more. On the River Ranch website, they point out the 15th green and how it “will draw comparisons to some of the most notable putting surfaces in the world of golf.” The sights from this new resort and the high-level course are going to put the Tri-Cities on the map to the golf world, with the opportunity to add to the resort.
