Lincoln (Tacoma) Abes 88, Silas Rams 59
(Tacoma, WA) Four of the last five times Lincoln and Silas have played each other, the game was decided by two points or less. In January, Silas took down Lincoln in a one-point thriller, which set the stage for another crosstown rivalry matchup in a packed gym at Lincoln. Lincoln already has a spot secured in the District Tournament, while Silas is still in the middle of a battle for clinching a spot in the tournament. In the final week of the PSL regular season, the two rivals squared off for the second time in a month.
Lincoln hit the ground running as the Abes had contributions from Jalan Lillie and Davion Shareef-Dulaney, who each drilled two three-pointers in the opening quarter. Shareef-Dulaney had seven points, and Lillie had six points. Lincoln held Silas to just six first-quarter points as the Abes bursted out to a 21-6 lead after the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, Lillie continued to sizzle, with eight points in the second and two more triples. The Abes spread the ball around with seven different players scoring in the first half. Silas spread the wealth as well, with six different Rams scoring in the second quarter, and being led by MakHai Pleasant-Tolliver. Silas had an 18-point second quarter, but Lincoln used a 22-point quarter to build on their lead. Lincoln led 43-24 at the half.
In the third quarter, Lincoln’s scoring continued with Davion Shareef-Dulaney pouring in seven points to reach double-figures. Justus Holt had three nice baskets down low to Lincoln. Silas Cannon Howard came back from a bloody nose in the first half to get six points in the third. Lincoln had their second straight 22-point quarter to take a 65-38 lead going into the final frame. Lincoln continued to score at an impressive rate, saving their most potent quarter for last. The Abes had a game-high 23 points in the fourth, behind Justus Holt having his second straight six-point quarter. Jaymari Byrd came off the bench late for Lincoln to drain a three, and Jalan Lillie had a massive dunk to keep the crowd rocking and helped secure the victory for Lincoln. The Abes won 88-59 on their home floor.
The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Lincoln’s Jalan Lillie. Lillie had a game-high 18 points, connected on four three-pointers, and had a highlight reel slam in the fourth.
Lincoln’s Davion Shareef-Dulaney was right behind Lillie with 17 points, Justus Holt had 15 points, Kasey Williams had 14 points, O’Shea Lamar had nine points, Jace Williams had six points, Jaymari Byrd had three points, Uriah Wilson had two points, and Jaiden Williams had one point.
Silas impressively had almost every player on the roster score. Cannon Howard led the Rams with 14 points, all in the second half. Trey Collier had 11 points in his return to his former school. MakHai Pleasant-Tolliver had nine points, Antione Vallarde-Larkins had six points, and Dan Williams had five points. Malachi Doss had four points, Keiondre Baldwin and Jaxen Loften each had three points, Jamirie Pringle and AJ Smith each had two points.
Lincoln improves to 12-3 on the season and in league play. The Abes face Central Kitsap at home on Wednesday to close out the regular season. Lincoln is in second place in the PSL-Narrows, and with no PSL Tournament this year, will not play until the District Tournament after Wednesday’s game.
Silas drops to 13-7 on the year and 9-6 in the PSL. The Rams will head to Bellarmine Prep on Wednesday. With Silas in fourth place in the PSL-Narrows, the Rams will play the fourth-place team out of the PSL-Nisqually in a loser-out, winner-to-Districts game on Saturday at Foss High School.
