The number one recruit in the Class of 2026, Rainier Beach boys basketball star Tyran Stokes, has been named to this year’s McDonald’s All-American Team. Stokes, who recently surpassed 2,000 career points, is a coveted recruit who made headlines this fall when he transferred to Rainier Beach. The Vikings are the defending 3A State Champions, and are looking to repeat for the first time since they won three in a row from 2012-2014. Stokes is currently uncommitted, but according to a post on his Instagram page, he’s down to three schools: Kansas, Kentucky, and Oregon.
Stokes is another outstanding talent to come from the legendary Rainier Beach program and is leading the Beach Boyz to put up 100 points or more as a team routinely. Rainier Beach hasn’t lost to a Washington school this year and is closing out the regular season this week. Stokes and his running mate, freshman J.J. Crawford, have set social media ablaze with their tremendous play and constant highlights.
Being on the McDonald’s All-American Team is an honor that many future NBA players have been a part of. Legends like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Grant Hill, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and many others have suited up in the game. This year is the 49th edition of the McDonald’s All-American Game and will be played in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 31 and will be broadcast on ESPN. The last players from Washington to suit up in the McDonald’s All-American Game in the boys game were Jackson Grant from Olympia and Paolo Banchero from O’Dea in 2021.
