(Seattle, WA) Two years ago the Seattle Seahawks had to wait until the Baltimore Ravens to get knocked out of the play-offs before they could go after the head coach they wanted in Mike McDonald. Seahawk G-M John Schneider was patient, didn’t panic, had a plan and got the coach he wanted to replace legendary Pete Carroll. It clearly worked out well with a Super Bowl Championship in year 2.

When the regular season ended this year and the Hawks were headed to the playoffs, Schneider and McDonald knew their O-C, Klint Kubiak would be interviewing for multiple head coach job openings. The deeper into the play-offs the Hawks advanced the fewer chances Kubiak would get one of those openings.

However, it became clear the Las Vegas Raiders were set on Kubiak and willing to wait. Schneider and McDonald also knew this was happening and began working on a short list of replacements.

That work paid off as they intereviewed a minimal number of candidates and quickly came to their decision and hired Brian Fleury away from the San Francisco 49ers.
