(Tacoma, WA) The District 3 3A girls semifinals were played Wednesday night at Mount Tahoma High School. All four teams are headed to the State Tournament with the winners facing off on Saturday at Mount Tahoma for the District Championship game. Tip-Off will be at 3pm.

The losers will also head to the State Tournament but there will not be games played for consolation placings. Below is our coverage of the two semifinal games along with Video highlights and our postgame shows.

Enumclaw 51, GigHarbor 46

(Mount Tahoma HS, WA) The Hornets and Tides were nose to nose for 3 quarters of the game. The defenses were dominating holding each offenses to just 10 points after the first quarter. Then just before the halftime buzzer sounded the Tides’ Kaliyah Miller sank a half court bomb to tie the game again at 21.

Gig Harbor scored 12 in the 3rd to edge away to a 33-32 lead after tghe third quarter. The most points scored by an offense so far in the game. Gig Harbor had scored 10, 11 and 12 points while Enumclaw was 10, 11 and 11.

The Hornets then broke loose early in the 4th quarter with a multi-prong attack from Hornets leading scorer Logan Girias, Emma Holt, Kaidyn Johnson and Callie Almli. Enumclaw built a 48-35 lead in the 4th quarter.

Gig Harbor tried to make a run with Willow Bonnici, Ashlyn Pierce and Miller leading the charge. But the deficit was too much and Enumclaw is headed to the District Championship game.

Enumclaw improves to 14-5 on the season and will face North Thurston at Mount Tahoma on Saturday for the District Championship with a 3pm tip-off.

Gig Harbor’s season is not over and is now 17-4 on the year. The Tides hope they have done enough and avoid having to play a play-in game next Tuesday or Wednesday and go straight to the Regional round of the State Tournment next Friday and Saturday.

Sumner Holiday Inn MVP of the Game

Enumclaw’s Emma Holt earned the Summer Holdiay Inn Express MVP of the game award as the 2nd leading scorer for the Hornets with 15 points and taking control of the paint in the 2nd half. Holt was the consistent force Enumclaw relied on to get the big win. Logan Girias and Kaidyn Johnson were also in the discussion for the MVP.

Had Gig Harbor pulled off the win it would have been difficult to get around the game leading scorer Kaliyah Miller.

Scoring Stats
Enumclaw: Logan Girias 16, Emma Holt 15, Kaidyn Johnson 10, Callie Almli 8, Ava Smith 2
Gig Harbor: Kaliyah Miller 18, Ashlyn Pierce 12, Willow Bonnici 8, Anika Jones 6, Jalaay Miller 2

North Thurston 68, White River 54

(Mount Tahoma HS, WA) The Hornets and Rams began the game in that feeling out process looking for opportunities and they played the 1st quarter to a 13-13 draw.

In the 2nd, North Thurston was the first to figure the other’s defense and exploded for 28 2nd quarter points. Shayla Cordis, Sierra Cordis, Lillianna Bonnin and Londyn Henderson all chalked up points and all finished in double figures fueled by the 2nd quarter outburst.

White River picked a bad time to go cold as well and got outscored 28-8 in the 2nd and trailed by 20 at the half 41-21.

The Hornets did not roll-over and it was their turn to figure out the Rams defense with bursts of scoring coming from Maggee Scmitz and Gracie Banks and then a well shared offensive output by 4 others scoring between 5 and 7 points for the game.

The Hornets were able to cut the lead to single digits at one time in the 2nd half but the Rams never allowed them to get too close and kept hitting key shot in the 2nd half to maintain that safe advantage. White River did outscore the Rams in the 2nd half 33-27 but the hole was to deep to fully dig out.

North Thurston is now 17-5 for the season and will face the Enumclaw Hornets on Saturday at 3pm for the District Championship at Mount Tahoma high school.

White River is now 17-6 and their district journey is over but are advancing to the State play-offs. They will find out on Sundcay if they will have to play a play-in game or go straight to the state regionals.

Sumner Holiday Inn MVP of the Game

The Rams’ Shayla Cordis with a game high 25 points was the clear choice although several North Thurston players were well bunched in the discussion with Sierra Cordis, Lillianna Bonnin and Londyn Henderson all scoring in double figures.

Had the Hornets come back to win Maggie Schmitz was the leading candidate.

Scoring Stats
North Thurston: Shayla Cordis 25, Sierra Cordis 14, Lillianna Bonnin 12, Londyn Henderson 10, Jae Jae Cherry 7
White River: Maggee Schmitz 17, Gracie Banks 12, Kaitlyn Hewlett 7, Kaijah Young 7, Malia Froemke 6, Lilly Banks 5
