SUMNER, WASH

For the first time in program history, the Sumner Spartans win an undisputed SPSL Championship by way of a 4-0 win over the Olympia Bears. The Spartans had goals from Gannon Vanderhoof, Nate Prenovost, Lucas Morgan, and Parker Lytle. Sumner keepers Kevin Ramos-Carrillo and Caden Gould kept a clean sheet for Sumner in the senior night win.

Olympia turned to Declan Borden to control between the pipes while Kevin Ramos-Carrillo started in net for Sumner.

Before the game Sumner honored their seniors; Kevin Ramos-Carrillo, Lucas Morgan, Parker Lytle, Nate Prenovost, Aiden Vannoy, Gannon Vanderhoof, Gavin Murphy, Gunnar Vanderhoof, Carlos Nino, Owen Craig, and Dylan Rose.

Gannon Vanderhoof opened the scoring with a header off a lose rebound from Declan Borden to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute. Shortly thereafter, Gianni Brancato’s pass from the right wing found the head of Nate Prenovost. The senior’s header in the 32nd minute gave Sumner a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, SPU bound Lucas Morgan buried a loose rebound at the 49th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Sumner’s Caden Gould the fort just like his predecessor Kevin Ramos-Carillo did in the first half. The highlight for Gould was his point blank save on Olympia’s Zach Bowman in the 77th minute. At the other end, Parker Lytle capped off the finishing touches for a 4-0 lead.

Olympia’s regular season ends on Tuesday against South Kitsap. Sumner concludes their regular season on the road against the Emerald Ridge Jaguars on Tuesday night.
