4/30/26

(Rochester, WA) Montesano came into the match with Rochester solidly in third place in the EVCO 1A. Rochester was in a more precarious 4th place with Forks nipping at their heels for the final district playoff spot. With only 2 regular season games left every game becomes a must win.

Montesano 2 Rochester 0

Montesano set a tone early that this was gonna be a fast paced game. In the 6th minute it looked like the Bulldogs Terek Gunter was going to score only to have Rochester keeper Rylan Calica make a great save. Montesano was able to get on the board a few minutes later on the lone corner of the first half for the Bulldogs. Brady Whipple stepped up and hit a perfect corner that sailed in for the Olympico goal in the 10th minute. Rochester’s offense was led by Aiden Villanueva, Eduardo Herrera and Anthony Garcia. That trio earned 4 first half corners but couldn’t crack the stout defense of Monte. The Bulldogs added a second goal in the 33rd minute. Cristofer Tobar sent the pass into Emery Watson whose initial shot was blocked but it ricocheted back and attempt 2 was good. Monte took their 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half had lots of back and forth action with both teams taking 4 corners each in the half. Brandon Reyes-Ibarra stepped into goal just before the end of the first half for Rochester. He notched 3 saves in the second half but it was a Salvador Reyes goal line clearance in the 68th minute that kept the match 2-0. That would end up being the final score.
