The Cascade Christian Cougars won their fourth match in eight days by defeating the King’s Knights 3-1. Solomon Leaman, Billy Huff, and Jose Nobrega accounted for the goals while Cole Louman earned credit for the win. Maddox Poublon scored the lone goal for King’s with Peter Bruce dealt the loss.
King’s came into the day already assured the number one spot in the Emerald Sound Conference Tournament beginning next Tuesday against Bear Creek. Cascade Christian aims to assure themselves a first round bye in their Districts Tournament, continuing their regular season on Tuesday against Life Christian.
Maddox Poublon opened the scoring when he sneaked a shot by Cascade Christian keeper Cole Louman in the 15th minute. Cascade Christian responded off a corner kick in the 20th. JP Gois’s cross found Solomon Leaman who headed in the tying goal for the Cougars. The day was marked by set pieces by Cascade Christian. Lukas Leaman’s cross found the head of Billy Huff in the 31st minute to give Cascsde Christian a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Cascade Christian hold a significant edge in time of possession. Late in the game, Jose Nobrega buried a goal in the 74th minute to seemingly put the match out of reach.
Both King’s and Cascade Christian set their sights on the postseason, with a potential rematch in State a looming possibility.
