5/24/2026

(Auburn, WA) Day 2 of the 3 day Memorial Day weekend schedule had 8 races set to go with some great early season showdowns. The free Family Fun continued in the Park.

This Re-cap is going to be on the short side and Emerald Downs’ Vince Bruun is helping out with great Feature race reporting.

Quick Notes

Jockey’s Day

On Saturday there were only 3 jockeys that found the winner’s circle. Silvio Amador 4 times, Kevin Krigger twice and Allyssa Morales once. On Sunday with 8 races 7 riders got their picture taken with Amador the only double winner taking the 4th on Si That Tiger and the 7th aboard Too Sassy sweeping the double feature.

Other winners included Krigger, Karlo Lopez, Lenny Seecharan, Isaias Enriquez, Jose Rosriguez and Kevin Orozco.

Rodriguez got his 2nd win of the season and his 2nd win with House of Lords and beat Benny Buckets for the 2nd time as well. House of Lords joins My Vino and Prowling Cat with 2 wins on the year.

Kevin Orozco got his 1st win since last season after injuring his shoulder. Orozco began riding again just last week.

Amador now leads Krigger in the jockey standings 12-9.

McCanna re-takes Trainer lead

Trainer Tim McCanna’s hot start continued on Sunday winning the 3rd race when Brother O’ Brien beat Background by a nose. McCanna picked up his 5th win from just 10 starts to lead Howie Gibson by one, 5-4.

Frank Lucarelli got his 3rd win on Sunday while Joe Toye, Rigoberto Velasquez and Blaine Wright got the 2nd victories while Rosie Simkins, Victor Trujillo and Sam Scolamieri all got their 1st wins. Scolamieri getting his first win at Emerald Downs.

The Betting Window

When Tiger Lady won the 5th race many thought that may clear the way for a potential single winning ticket in the pick 6. Tiger Lady went off at 13-1 and paid $29.20 which was the highest $2 win pay of the season.

But it did not create a Jackpot win as multiple winners again cashed in paying a season high $838.66. The pick 6 now has a carry-over for a single winner of $6,735. Monday’s card looks challenging maybe a few more upsets will give us the first Jackpot winner of 2026.

Let’s get to Sunday’s card.

4th Race Feature Race #1

Si That Tiger delivered another sparkling performance Sunday at Emerald Downs, leading all the way for a 1 ¼-length victory over stablemate Executive Chef in the $26,000 Olympic Eagle Purse for 3-year-olds and up.

Ridden by Silvio Amador at 123 lbs., the winner ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:02.56, fastest of the meet, returning $3.40 as the betting favorite. Blaine Wright is the trainer for owners John and Janene Maryanski and Gerald and Gail Schneider.

It’s the sixth straight sprint victory for Si That Tiger and makes the 4-year-old son of Smiling Tiger-Ros’s Girl the likely favorite in the $50,000 Budweiser Stakes on June 21, first stop on the road to the $125,000 Longacres Mile on Aug. 16.

Breaking from the inside box, Si That Tiger set splits of :22.26, :44.79, and :56.45, and had plenty left to hold off Executive Chef in the final furlong.

Si That Tiger earned $14,820, increasing his life mark to $128,970.

Executive Chef, also owned by the Maryanskis and the Schneiders, finished well for second and the steady 7-year-old is 8-6-1 in 17 career starts at Emerald Downs.

Two-time Washington Horse of the Year Slew’s Tiz finished third in his 2026 debut and is 12-6-5 in 30 career starts. The 8-year-old older brother of Si That Tiger traditionally needs more ground for his best effort.
