(Auburn, WA) The first of 14 weeks of 3-day a week starts tonight at Emerald Downs. The majority of the racing season is a Friday-Saturday-Sunday schedule. Tonight is the first Fab Friday night and all patrons will get a FREE Hawaiian style Emerald Downs polo shirt with paid admission.
With your shirt it’s also the last time you would have to pay admission on a Friday night. Just wear it on any Friday night of racing and you get free admission for the rest of the season.
First race post time tonight is 7pm and is the same for all Friday nights except on July 3rd which is the special Fireworks show night and 1st race is 5pm. Reservations or advanced tickets are likely needed for the July 3rd night as it sells out every year.
Other fun activities will be on tap including the $1,000 horse shoe toss. Three lucky contestants will get a chance to throw a horseshoe and the closest wins $100. If you throw a ringer you win $1,000! There will be live music between the races and lots of half price food and drink specials.
7 races are on tap for the first Friday night. This kicks off a busy weekend of fun at the Auburn oval. Tomorrow is Belmont Stakes Day where you can bet on the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown. There will also be a Belmont Handicapping contest.
On Sunday, it’s Irish Day with traditional Irish fare being offered along with Traditional Irish music and dancing.
Next week you’ll want to mark this on your calendars as the Indian Relays return to Emerald Downs. Tribes from all over the Western U-S and Canada compete for big dollars in this fan favorite bareback racing. The teams race 2 miles, twice around the track with 4 different horses and included 3 exciting transition stops and is an incredible sport to watch.
Racing begins next Friday with qualifying races on both Friday and Saturday with the Finals on Sunday.
This is just the beginning of the fun this summer and the great thoroughbred racing action, no better professional sports value than a day at Emerald Downs.
