A season full of memories from the history of the Seattle Mariners just got a little more exciting. The team announced on Thursday that they will host an alumni Home Run Derby after the game on August 7th against the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be a part of the 50 seasons celebration on the same weekend that the team reveals the top 50 players in franchise histoy.
Ken Griffey Jr. will serve as the Commissioner of the event while Jay Buhner and Nelson Cruz will be the coaches but none of those three will hit. The announced participants are listed below with their years as a Mariner.
- Ichiro Suzuki (2001-2012, 2018-2019)
- Mike Cameron (2000-2003)
- Ryan Rowland-Smith (2007-2010)
- Ryon Healy (2018-2019)
- Austin Nola (2019-2020)
- Bucky Jacobsen (2004)
- Stefen Romero (2014-2016)
