(Blaine, WA) The USGA held a U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier at Loomis Trail Golf Club. There were nine spots up for grabs, plus two alternates. The players who advanced will head to Final Qualifying in July across the country. The 126th U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at the legendary Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, with some stroke play rounds being held at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.

Earning medalist honors was Brock Maulding from Lake Tapps, who went bogey-free for a six-under round of 66. Maulding birdied the second, third, eighth, and 13th holes with an eagle on the 504-yard par 5 11th. Trey Tuyo from Agoura Hills, California, also went bogey-free, but shot a five-under round of 67 to finish in second. Tacoma’s Owen Price joined the bogey-free party with a four-under round of 68 to take solo third place. Canada’s Luke Cote, Lynden’s Logan Medcalf, and Seattle’s Erik Heggelund tied for fourth, with three-under rounds of 69. The final three spots were secured by Canada’s Matthew Wilson, Wyatt Brook, and Tim Hachey, who all shot two-under 70s.

Mill Creek’s Henry Kippenhan, also shot two-under but didn’t advance in a hole-by-hole playoff, but is the first alternate. Auburn’s Tyson Arthur is the second alternate with a one-under round of 71.
