7/18/26
A night where prospects became stars, masterclass performances, and championship-level fights- OKC had it all. A great night of fighting that demonstrated all the different reasons why MMA is so special. The fights up and down all night were competitive and highlight-worthy, all culminating in a main event that did not disappoint and showed what champion-level fighters are made of.
Tommy McMillen vs Alberto Montes: Featherweight
Tommy McMillen solidified himself as a future star in the company after his masterful performance against Alberto Montes. After a week where the two fighters talked constant trash over social media and in person, McMillen got the final laugh. He pushed a pace unlike anything the featherweight division has seen since Max Holloway vs Kalvin Kattar. Over 500 strikes were thrown in the fight, with McMillen’s superb boxing and body work the whole fight. The first round was somewhat competitive, and Montes even had moments where he landed big shots, but once McMillen found his rhythm, there wasn’t much Montes could do. The shots to the body became too much in the third round, and McMillen pushed on the gas and landed massive strikes to get the TKO victory. McMillen backed up his talk in an extremely impressive way and launched himself as a rising star. He says he wants to fight again in September, so fans be on the lookout for the young prospect.
Tabatha Ricci vs Fatima Kline: Women’s Strawweight
Fatima Kline cruised to a dominant win over Tabatha Klein and demonstrated the full kit of her MMA arsenal. From the striking to the takedowns and grappling, Kline looked like a championship-level fighter. Ricci fought well, but her disadvantage in the striking range, paired with her takedowns being stuffed, left her open for Kline to tee off. This was a display of all aspects of MMA, and Kline looked elite in everything. She even threw in some massive back-to-back takedowns to put on the highlight reel, along with some showboating that showed the level she is at. Pure dominance from Kline and the strawweight division has a new contender who will fight anyone they put in front of her.
Chase Hooper vs Mitch Ramirez: Lightweight
Another dominant performance on the card and this time by Chase Hooper. Hooper made it look easy with a round one submission by rear naked choke over Mitch Ramirez and is now back in the win column after his two-fight losing streak. He opened the fight landing good strikes from range as he is the lengthier fighter. He then shot a takedown and instantly locked in a body triangle and began to work on the submission. It didn’t take long before he was under the chin and secured the victory. Hooper is now in a position to get into the lightweight rankings in his next fight, as he is still young and hungry for more success in the most dangerous weight class in the UFC
Jared Cannonier vs Christian Leroy Duncan: Middleweight
Christian Leroy Duncan gets the unanimous decision in a tough fight over the veteran Jared Cannonier in where he was tested more than in almost any other fight in his career. Duncan came out strong in the first round with big strikes from distance that were leaving an impact on Cannonier, even having him hurt towards the end of the round. The second round was back and forth for the two as Cannonier used his clinch work and wrestling to hold off Duncan for as long as he could. Duncan landed the much bigger shots, though with spinning elbows constantly flying and knees in the clinch that were wearing Cannonier down. Both men were tired in the third round, which is where Cannonier started to take over a little bit with more wrestling, but Duncan did enough in the first two rounds to get the victory. Duncan now looks to move up into the top ten rankings as he hunts a title shot in his future.
Dricus Du Plessis vs Kamaru Usman: Middleweight
In the fight of the night, Dricus Du Plessis delivered another outstanding performance that proved that he will remain one of the best middleweights in the world with his unanimous decision win over Kamaru Usman. In the first two rounds, DDP came out sharp as he ever has with massive combinations, head kicks, and knees that continually wobbled and hurt Usman. One of the most impressive things about the fight was Usman’s chin because he was hit with bombs throughout the whole fight and never faltered. Usman’s best rounds were rounds three and five, where he gave as well as he received, but the damage was done by Du Plessis. A masterclass performance against a former champion and one of the greatest of all time. DDP will likely fight for the title next or be next in line after Nassourdine Imavov, but nonetheless, Du Plessis will see a championship fight again soon.
