Meantime, Gi Gi’s Map was victorious in the Friday night feature and special thanks to Emerald Downs’ Media Director Vince Bruun for his track notes and feature race report.

Friday Track Notes

Friday’s mutuel handle totaled $965,942 on a seven-race card. . .The $0.10 Jackpot Pick Six carryover is a season-high $37,634.76 to Saturday (Races 3-8). . .Elder Mack ($9.86) made it two straight for Blaine Wright and Chappell Alpine Farms, leading coast to coast in a $20,000 claimer for 3 and ups at a mile. . .Our Hula Girl, younger sister of Slew’s Tiz Whiz and Si That Tiger, broke her maiden as the 6 to 5 choice in the Friday opener. . .Slew’s Tiz Whiz runs in Saturday’s allowance feature at a mile. . .Earl Baze, father of jockey Tyler Baze, sang Friday’s national anthem. . .Friday’s program marked the final night card of the season. Beginning next week, the track races on Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 6 with closing day Monday, Sept. 7.

7th Race Feature Race

Gi Gis Map took control early and held off Princess Hekawi late for a 1 ½-length victory in Friday’s $24,000 FTF Starter Allowance for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With Silvio Amador riding his third winner on the card, Gi Gis Map ran a mile and 70 yards in 1:42.25 and paid $19,06 to win. Charles Essex is the winning trainer for owner Joe Crawford, whose 5-year-old mare has two wins from three starts since being claimed for $5,000 in May.

Friday’s purse, which included $10,000 from a generous anonymous sponsor, was written for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up which have started for a claiming price of $10,000 or less at Emerald Downs in 2026. Essex also took the male version of the $24,000 starter allowance with Bak to Liberty last week, and that won also led gate to wire at odds of 10 to 1.

Amador’s triple boosted his meet-leading total to 50 wins, six ahead of Kevin Krigger who doubled Friday and has 44 wins.

Princess Hekawi, the 6 to 5 favorite, held second while Kinky Moon closed from last to finish third.

Gi Gis Map earned $13,680 to boost her career total to $87,296.

In the opener Our Hula Girl had been knocking on the door and finally someone answered as she led start to finish and won handily under jockey Adrian Castellanos by 4 lengths covering the 6 furlongs in 1:12.23. Our Hula Girl races for OHG Racing and trained by Tom Wenzel.

Roxie’s Secret closed late with Pablo Castillo to place, Boss Girl and Talliyah Timentwa ran and even 3rd while Gracie K with Kevin Orozco took 4th.

2nd Race

The field of 5 went 5 1/2 furlongs and Bluegrass Go Go sat just behind front runner A View from Above and Silvio Amador. Kevin Krigger would not let View getaway and was within a length then surged past the early speed in the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths in a final time of 1:03.12. Bluegrass Go Go is owned by Aaron Bresko and trained by Alexis Silva-Martinez.

A View from Above did well to hold on for 2nd, Fantastic Day closed from last to 3rd with Kevin Orozco in the saddle while Rhodium Runner and Blake Nunnally placed 4th.

5-1 Flight Ryder and Alex Anaya took control of the 3rd race going a mile and by the 6 furlong mark built a 3 1/2 length lead which was enough to deny all late comers to win by a length in a final time of 1:40.69. Flight ryder is owned by Eliana Thompson and trained by Jorge Rosales.

15-1 Another Lifer and Blake Nunnally closed well for a clear 2nd but ran out of time trying to catch the front runner, 20-1 Big Wheelz under Javier Matias took 3rd and 11-1 Three P’s ridden by Frank Alvarado finished 4th.

A field of 5 went 6 1/2 furlongs and odds on choice Kristen Lee did not disappoint with a clear front running win by nearly 7 lengths in a final time of 1:16.01. Schmidt Happens Racing are the owners and trained by Faustino Patino.

Annika’s Song with Adrian Castellanos closed to get up for 2nd, Jersey Sunset at 16-1 just failed to last to hold onto 2nd ridden by Kevin Orozco and taking 4th was Coastal Girl and Frank Alvarado.

Taino House got a perfect ride from Kevin Krigger sitting just off the pace in a stalking position and got first run at the quarter pole opened up and cruised to a 5 length win covering the 6 furlongs in 1:10.47. Taino House races for Laura Oatfield and Charlie Essex and trained by Essex.

Mr Fireball was 2nd best under Frank Alvarado, Handsome Ticket and Kevin Orozco was 3rd while Mr Executive piloted by Silvio Amador took 4th.

A field of 7 went 1 mile and well matched field saw a 7-2 shot as the favorite with 6 of the 7 runners between 7-2 and 5-1. The 3rd 7-2 shot Elder Mack got the win with Silvio Amador in the irons. Elder Mack is owned by Chappell Alpine Farms and trained by Blaine Wright. Mack ran a brilliant front running win and stopped the clock at 1:36.49.

Seas of Normandy and Blake Nunnally ran a solid 2nd at 4-1 with Afjan under Kevin Krigger taking 3rd and completing the superfecta was 15-1 longshot Counteract and Talliyah Timentwa.
