Aberdeen 3, Black Hills 0

(Tumwater, WA) The Aberdeen Bobcats and Black Hills Wolves both feel like they have the talent to win the Evco but both are off to an even 1-1 start trailing Tumwater and Centralia who are 2-0. So this early season match was already a big one and could come into play late in the season in the standings.

The conditions of windy, wet and cold favored neither side and were far from ideal but both teams got after each other often in the 1st half. Both teams had 1 real good chance to score but neither could do it. The Wolves’ Bekele Dowty fired a shot that went off the side post missing a scoring chance by inches and Aberdeen’s Tony Oropeza had an open shot he pulled wide and the game would go the break tied at 0.

The Bobcats would turn up the pressure in the 2nd half and began run after run on the Wolves defense but the Black Hills defense and keeper Matt Braun held up including defending a pair of corner kicks but Aberdeen’s persistence would break through in the 49th. Miguel Torres scored on a great play by Cesar Corona who kept the ball alive to Luis Martinez who then passed to Torres for the goal.

The ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game would give the Bobcats an insurance goal and Torres’ 2nd as well. Corona again saved a ball from going out and launched a crossing pass that Torres ripped into the goal in the 60th minute. Oropeza would finish off the scoring in stoppage time blasting a free kick from 25-yards out over the top of the wall into the upper right to make it 3-0.

Aberdeen is now 2-1 in Evco league play while the Wolves drop to 1-2. Our Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty Players of the game went to Aberdeen’s Cesar Corono and Black Hills’ Bekele Dowty.
