(Renton, WA) The 2026-27 Washington State High School sports year is about to begin and many have their expectations, hopes and dreams of competing for the top prize regardless of which sport or event they are competing.
The WIAA is also almost set for all those post-season dreams to become reality and it starts with having the venues locked in place. The WIAA has most of all the event and tournament locations secured and we have them all listed for you in this story.

There is one sport that still doesn’t have dates or a final location ands that’s the new girls Flag Football. The WIAA needs to find out from the participating schools when the majority will be playing their seasons. Last year, the State tournaments were held in February at Federal Way High School. That time frame is one being considered along with a later date in May.
We’ll run down each sport with the dates and location of the state tournament and events by season. Let’s get started!
Fall Sports
Football
Semi-finals will all be held on Saturday, November 28 at various locations around the state. This is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Finals will be held at the University of Washington Husky Stadium
Friday, December 4 will be the 1B, 1A and 3A State Championships
Saturday, December 5 will the the 2B, 2A and 4A State Championships
Volleyball
All full State tournaments from opening round to State Championship match will take place over 2-days at the Yakima SunDome.
Wednesday, November 11 & Thursday, November 12 the 1B & 2B Tournaments
Friday, November 13 & Saturday, November 14 the 1A & 2A Tournaments
Friday, November 20 & Saturday, November 21 the 3A & 4A Tournaments
Girls Soccer and B Boys Soccer
The fall Soccer State tournaments include the 1A thru 4A girls tournaments along with the girls and boys B tournaments for a total of six Final-4 tournaments at three locations. All games on Friday are Semi-finals and on Saturday the Championship match and 3rd place match.

Sparks Stadium in Puyallup the 3A & 4A girls tournaments
Memorial Stadium at Federal Way HS the 1A & 2A girls tournaments
Mt Tahoma HS the B girls and B boys tournaments
Slow Pitch
Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24
The Kiwanis Fields in Yakima will host both the 2A/3A tournament and the 4A tournaments.
Cross Country
All classifications of both girls and boys Cross Country individual and team events will be held on a 1 day meet.
Saturday, November 7
All races will be run at the Sun Willows golf course in Pasco.
Girls Swimming
The 1A/2A, 3A and 4A Swimming and Diving events take place over a two day period.
Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14
All swim and diving events will be held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Winter Sports
Basketball
Opening and Regional Rounds
The opening and regional round of games will be held between Tuesday, February 23 and Saturday, February 27 at Various locations.
16-Team Brackets
All 16 team Bracket Tournaments will be held from Wednesday, March 3 thru Saturday March 6.
Tacoma Dome will host the 3A and 4A boys and girls tournaments.
Yakima SunDome will host the 1A and 2A boys and girls tournaments.
Spokane Arena will host the 1B and 2B boys and girls tournaments.
Wrestling Mat Classic
Regionals through the Championships are all wrestled during Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome
Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19 the 3A and 4A girls and boys tournaments.
Friday, February 19 and Saturday. February 20 the 1B/2B/1A and 2A girls tournaments and the 1B/2B, 1A and 2A boys tournaments.
Girls Gymnastics
Both tournaments will be held at Sammamish High school
Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19 the 1A/2A/3A tournament.
Friday, February 19 and Saturday. February 20 the 4A girls tournaments and the 1B/2B, 1A and 2A boys tournaments.
Boys Swimming
The 1A/2A, 3A and 4A Swimming and Diving events take place over a two day period.

Girls Bowling
All tournaments will be held at the Bowlero Lanes in Tukwila

State Cheerleading & Dance and Drill
This will be a new venue for State Cheer as they move from Battleground HS to the Yakima SunDome. Cheer will join Dance and Drill in the SunDome with Cheer in February and Dance and Drill in March.
Friday, February 5 and Saturday, February 6 All classifications of State Cheerleading.
Friday, March 26 the 1A/2A/3A State Dance and Drill.
Saturday, March 27 the 4A State Dance and Drill.
Spring Sports
Baseball
Baseball opening rounds and Regionals all take place at various locations. The Final 4’s of semi-final games, 3rd place and the Championship are at 3 locations.

Golf is one of two sports that play split regular season and district tournaments between two seasons of Fall and Spring. But all State tournaments are held in the Spring.
