Yakima SunDome Quarterfinals

Game 13:  The Northwest School 50, Royal 46

Jamie Cockburn scored 21 points as Northwest survived 23.8 percent first half shooting to hold off the Knights.  Gabriel Roldan-Barrios added 9 points and 6 rebounds.  Northwest moves into a 3:45 p.m. Friday semi-final against top-seeded Lynden Christian.

The Knights got a 12-point, 7-rebound, 3-assist performance from Corbin Christensen and 13 points from Isaac Ellie.  They drop into the 4th/6th bracket and meet King’s Way Christian at 9 a.m. Friday in a loser-out contest.

Game 14:   Lynden Christian 87, King’s Way Christian 63

Lynden Christian overcame an eight-point second quarter deficit to race past the Knights.   The win sends the top-seeded Lyncs into a 3:45 p.m. Friday semi-final against The Northwest School.  King’s Way  Christian drops into the 4th/6th bracket and meets Royal in a loser-out game Friday at 9 a.m.

Both teams had a big scorer as Cole Bajema broke loose for a game-high 26 for the winners and Khalfani Cason topped King’s Way with 25, adding 9 rebounds and 6 assists.  George DeJong added 18 and 8 rebounds for the Lyncs, Andrew DeVries scored 12 and Luke Bos 10.

Brady Metz backed Cason up with 14 points for the Knights.

Game 15:  Northwest School 50, Royal 46

Jamie Cockburn scored 21 points to lift Northwest into Thursday’s semi-finals.  Isaac Ellis had 13 points for Royal, while Corbin Christensen added 12 for the losers.

Yakima SunDome Loser Out Bracket

Game 9: The Northwest School 47, Montesano 38

Northwest survived a second half scare when the Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run to lead 35-31 early in the fourth quarter, but rallied with an 11-0 run of its own that featured seven of Azure Holloway-Figueroa’s game-high 12 points.  Northwest will play Royal in a 9 a.m. Thursday quarterfinal.  Montesano is out.

Holloway-Figueroa made it a double-double with 10 rebounds while James Cockburn added 12 and Isaiah Jeannot 10 points and seven rebounds.  Sam Winter stuffed the Bulldogs stat sheet with 10 points, 7 reboiunds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Game 10: King’s Way Christian 60, Cascade Christian 57

Brady Metz, who led with 17 points, and Khalfani Cason, who had 16, each knocked down three 3-pointers for the Knights, who move on to meet Lynden Christian at 10:30 a.m.  in a Thursday quarterfinal.

Dylan Cooley exploded for 27 points for Cascade and Corbin Nohr tallied 10.

Game 11: Mount Baker 63,  Bellevue Christian 57

Bellevue Christian opened the game with a 23-15 first quarter lead but the Mountaineers climbed back into it and took the lead for good in the fourth quarter.  They will meet Zillah in a 12:15 quarterfinal on Thursday.  Bellevue Christian is out.

Carter Backstrom was the star for Mt. Baker, scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 rebounds to go with 3 assists.  Kaleb Bass also scored 14 while Ethan Gates and Waylon Kanter rounded out balanced scoring with 13 apiece.  Eric Kats led the Vikings with 17, followed by Andy Moyer with 16.  Tyler Jump had 10 points and 3 assists; Ken West 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Game 12: King’s 59, Newport 47

King’s,  which will move on to a 2 p.m. quarterfinal Thursday against Freeman, broke out to a 22-13 first quarter lead and never looked back as Eyon Zevenbergen led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds.   Newport is out.

Newport’s top scorer was Koa Pancho with 12 points while Owen Leslie and Danny Bradbury tallied nine apiece.
