Everett 6, Centralia 1

(Centralia, WA)

The Centralia College Blazers Men’s soccer team played their inaugural match on Saturday against Everett CC. Things didn’t go how head coach Noel Vazquez wanted but he knew coming in it was going to be a hard first match against the Trojans.

Everett jumped out to a 4-0 lead at halftime and would lead 6-0 deep into the 2nd half before WF West graduate Jairo Lima Perez took a free kick and notched the first ever goal in program history. Vazquez says this match was important to simply to get his players playing against other college teams and feeling the physicality of the college game.

Vazquez was prepared for a difficult match against a very good Everett squad but he says with a brand new program it’s about jumping in with both feet and just getting the program underway.

Centralia is off to an 0-1 start and will next play against Shoreline on August 22 at the Starfire complex followed by a match with Edmonds on the 23rd at Starfire. Their next home match will be September 6 when they host Lane College.
