Napavine 59, Adna 6

The Napavine Tigers are the defending State 2B Champions and are rarin’ to defend the big trophy. The Tigers wasted little time dealing with their rival Adna on the Pirates home field scoring a whopping 59 points before giving up a late 6. QB Ashton Demarest ran in the 1st score from 36 yards out and threw for 4 more TD’s. The Tigers got scoring from all facets of the game with the defense scoring a pick 6 touchdown and a safety while special teams returned not one but two 60-yard punts for scores.

Napavine’s Connor Holmes was named the Better Homes and Garden “Takin’ it to the House” play of the game with the pick-6 from the Adna 20-yard line. Demarest was named the Thorbeckes MVP of the game with his big night offensively.

Adna QB Lane Johnson got the Pirates on the scoreboard to avoid the shut out with a brilliant scramble and run for 57-yards late in the game. The Pirates drop to 0-1 and will try to even their record next Friday at Pe Ell/Willapa Valley. Napavine is 1-0 and will be on the road again in week 2 at Onalaska.
