The Napavine Tigers are locked in on defending their State Championship and improved to 4-0 but they have company as Forks and Toledo are also undefeated through 4 weeks. The highly competitive Central 2B also has the 3-1 Raymond and PWV and 5 teams at 2-2. Here’s our feature story on the Napavine win over Pe Ell-Willapa Valley along with the other scores and some links to additional coverage. Let’s get to week 4!

Napavine 60, PWV 14

The Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter beginning with a 24-yard TD run by QB Ashton Demarest and then Demarest hit Karsen Denault on a 44-yard TD strike to make it 14-0.

PWV scored on the 1st play of the 2nd quarter to stay close when Blake Howard plowed in from the 3 yard line. The PAT missed and it was 14-6 Tigers with the lead. Napavine struck back with 3 straight scoring drives with Demarest hitting Denault again from 36-yards out, Cael Stanley ran it in from the 5 and Demarest struck again from the 25 yard line to Cayle Kelly and when they were done went to the haqlftime break with a dominating 38-6 lead.

PWV would try to get right back into the game and scored first in the 2nd half on a Tyson Portmann 2 yard blast into the endzone. They added the 2 point conversion and it was 38-14.

Napavine quickly snuffed out the flame of the idea of a comeback reeling off 3 more TD’s with a 40-yard strike from Demarest to Colin Shields then he hit Cal Bullock on a 25-yard connection and the Tigers finished it off with another Cael Stanley rushing score from the 1 yard line for the final 60-14 score.

The Thorbeckes MVP went toi Ashton Demarest and the Better Homes and Garden Realty “Takin it to the house” play of the game was Damarest to Colin Shields 40-yard TD pass and catch.

Napavine is now 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in league play while PWV drops to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Tigers travel up to Lynden Christian next Saturday for a big non-league match-up while PWV will host MWP.
