HS Boys Hoops: Kelso rolls at Tumwater

(Tumwater, WA) The Kelso Hilanders have a senior dominated team and the experience is paying off early as the Hilanders improved to 3-0 with a convincing win at Tumwater on Tuesday night. Kelso had 3 in double figures and Michael Henderson leading Kelso with 21 hitting 5 3-balls. Hayden Yore added 18 as did Easton Marshall but it was Marshall who got Kelso off to a hot start. Marshall drained a 3 on the 1st possession of the game and then hit a floater for 2. Marshall had 7 of the Hilanbders 1st 9 points and they never looked back.

Tumwater trailed 37-24 at the break but Kelso came out firing and quickly built a larger lead and after 3 were up 61-38. In the 4th at one point Kelso led by 32. Tumwater would make a little headway in the final 3 minutes but were never really in the game. The bright spot for the T-Birds was Clay Morgan who led all scorers with 22 with a pair of treys. Beckett Wall was also effective off the bench with 8 the 2nd most points for Tumwater.

Kelso is now 3-0 on the season and will host Mountain View on Friday. Tumwater falls to 1-2 and is back in action Wednesday in an EVCO 2A hosting Aberdeen.

Kelso’s Easton Marshall was named our Thorbeckes MVP of the game. Michael Henderson and Hayden Yore were both big contenders but Marshall’s quick start that built the early lead was the difference in deciding between the 3 players.
