(Tumwater, WA) The WF West Bearcats had been off for 9 days and came out a little rusty as they fell behind the Wolves 14-11 after the 1st quarter but came out strong in the 2nd 8-minutes jumping out to a 23-14 lead with a 12-0 run. The Wolves would not score their 1st basket of the 2nd quarter until nearly 6 minutes in. WF West outscored Black Hills 15-4 to go to the halftime break up with a 26-18 lead.

The 2nd repeated with the Wolves staying in the game and cutting the lead down to 3 at one point but the Bearcats rallied and gave up just 1 point of their 8 point cushion to lead 41-34. In the 4th quarter back-to-back 3 balls one from Lucas Hoff and the other from Tyler Klatush pushed the lead back to double figures and the Bearcats pressure defense would not allow the Wolves to make a serious late run.

The Bearcats Senior dominated team led by Parker Eiswald who dropped 18 points and filled up his stat line with rebounds and assists was our Thorbeckes MVP. Eiswald told ESN that the 9 days off likely led to the slow start but once they got into rhythm the game came to them and they were able to keep the Wolves potent offensive weapons of Simon Nysted and Jack Ellison held in check.

It was the Wolves Senior night with ceremonies prior to the game honoring their graduating players including Simon Nysted, Jack Ellison, Truman Wimsett, Jace Cedargreen, Mason Nagel and Wyatt Murphy.

Our Home team Better Homes and Garden, Summit Funding and Country Insurance Takin’ it to the House Play of the Game waas the 3-point shot by Lucas Hoff pushing the lead back to 10 points in the 4th quarter.

The Bearcats improved to 6-1 in league play and 9-5 overall and will next face Tumwater at home on Friday night in a battle for 1st place. The Wolves dropped to 6-3 in league and 9-6 overall and travel to Centralia on Friday.
