Format

The format on day 1 for all 3 tournaments (Wednesday and Friday) is individual and team scores. Teams must have a minimum of 5 bowlers and can have more who can rotate in throughout the tournament. Following the bowling on the day one’s will be the trophy presentations for the individuals.

On Thursday and Saturday it’s day 2 of the team competition only. All teams will bowl 14 games in what’s called the Baker format. The Baker format is each of the 5 members of the team will bowl only 2 frames of a full game. It’s a combined team effort in all 14 games and the strategy is where you want to place your bowlers. The 1st bowler will bowl the 1st and 6th frames, 2nd bowler the 2nd and 7th, 3rd is 3rd and 8th, 4th and 9th and 5th and 10th frames.

During both days of competition all bowlers and teams move to a different set of lanes or lane after each game.

Scoring

The scoring is simple, there is no handicap it is all scratch bowling with the individuals it’s their 6 game totals on day 1. Everyone bowling on a team is also automatically competing in the individual competition.

The team totals are a total of each individual team members games with a total of 30 games for day 1. Then on day 2 another 14 games will be added under the Baker format where all 5 team members bowl just 2 frames of each game and their combined effort is the final score. The totals for all 44 games are added up and it’s just the highest totals that place the top 8. Ties will be broken with a bowl-off.

How to watch the Eli Sports live stream on the NFHS Network

For those who can’t get to Tukwila for the live action and want to watch live or want to go back and watch on demand you can view it on the NFHS Network where Eli Sports streams the action. To get in as many of the lanes as possible we will set up 3 live stream covering at least 6 lanes and possibly up to 8. We will have live announcers who will be commentating at times and updating viewers with as much information as possible.

We will do our best to direct you where your team or bowlers will be bowling next and if you need to switch over to another stream. For example let’s just say lanes 1-6 will be on stream 1, 7-12 on stream 2 and 13-18 on stream 3. If your bowler is on lane 1 for their 1st game but then has to move to lane 10 for game 2 you will need to switch over to stream 2. Below you can see a sample of our streams for both days. For best picture be sure to maximize your screen shot.

The NFHS is a subscription network and the cost is $11.99 for 30 days or $79.99 for a full annual. This also gives you full access to all NFHS live broadcasts and each broadcast is then saved on-demand for up to 3 years. This means if you buy a subscription on the 5th it will take you all the way to March 5 and you could also view all state boys swimming, wrestling and boys and girls basketball.

This also gives you access to all NFHS broadcasts in all 50 states if you happen to have a relative or friend in another state competing and it’s being streamed on the NFHS you have full access. Last year Eli Sports alone live streamed more than 1,500 games and events. This also gives you access to all the pixellot automated cameras that most high schools now have in place.
