Saturday June 14th is the start of the 18th edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Co-Hosted by the USA and Canada. The 16 competing teams will play in 14 venues across the 2 host countries. A majority of the matches will be held on the west coast as the FIFA Club World Cup is being played at the same time primarily on the east coast. These two tournaments act as a precursor to the 2026 World Cup that is being co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
The 2025 Gold cup opens group play with defending champion Mexico taking on the Dominican Republic. Just 3 teams have won all 17 Gold Cup titles with Mexico winning 9 followed by the US with 7 and Canada with one. The Group stage goes from June 14th- 24th with the top 2 teams from each group advancing out of the round. The finals are set for July 6th at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Panama 1 Honduras 1 (H 5-4 P in shoot-out)
Ismael Diaz kept up his scoring streak with a penalty kick one minute into the first half added time to give Panama the 1-0 halftime lead. Honduras got a late equalizer from Choco Lozano in the 82nd for the 1-1 draw at the end of regulation setting up the penalty shootout. In the quarterfinals there is no overtime if the match is tied at the end of the 2nd half extra time teams go directly to a shootout.
Honduras wins the shootout 5-4 and advances.
Mexico 2 Saudi Arabia 0
Neither team scored in the first half however it didn’t take long for Mexico to change that in the second half. Alexis Vega hit the back of the net for Mexico in the 49th minute. An own goal by Saudi Arabia in the 81st sealed the deal for the defending champs 2-0 win and advanced them to the semis.
Both Semi-Finals will be on July 2nd Mexico plays Honduras at 7pm.
June 29th
Canada 1 Guatemala 1 (C 5- 6 G in shoot-out)
Canada’s Jonathan David scored in the 30th minute to give the tournament co-host a the lead but a red card just before halftime put them down a man for the rest of the match. Rubio Rubin struck for Guatemala in the 69th to even the match and with no more scoring in the match a shoot-out would decide the outcome.
Guatemala gets the upset winning the shoot-out 6-5 to advance and ending Canada’s Gold Cup run.
USA 2 Costa Rica 2 (US 4-3 CR in shoot-out)
A foul in the US penalty area gave Costa Rica’s Francisco Calvo a shot from the mark and a 1-0 lead just 12 minutes into the match. Diego Luna got his first goal for the USMNT in the 43rd to even the match at halftime. Max Arfsten kept the US momentum going out of halftime, scoring in the 47th minute to take the 2-1 lead. Alonzo Martinez answered in the 71st for Costa Rica, sending the 3rd of 4 quarter final matches to a shootout.
Team USA wins the shoot-out thanks to Matt Freese excellent goalkeeping blocking 3 shots in the 4-3 win that went to the 6th kicker.
The US plays Guatemala in the semi-finals on July 2nd at 4pm.

Game 3 Mexico 0 Costa Rica 0
Mexico dominated time of possession (70%) and shots(13 with 4 on goal) against Costa Rica in a 0-0 tie.
Both Mexico and Costa Rica couldn’t be caught in group A after the 2nd match. Mexico won the group on goal differential and will play Saudi Arabia on June 28th. Costa Rica plays the US in the quarters on June 29th.
Game 3 Dominican Republic 0 Suriname 0
The DR had more total shots (17) but Suriname had more possession (69%) in this 0-0 draw. Both teams have been eliminated from the Gold Cup.

The Dominican Republic took the lead in the 16th minute on a Joao Urbaez goal. Costa Rica got the equalizer in the 44th on a PK by Manfred Ugalde. Josimar Alcocer got the game winner for Costa Rica in the 85th minute.
Game 2 Mexico 2 Suriname 0
Suriname held the defending champs scoreless in the first half. In the second half it was a pair of goals by Cesar Montes in the 57th and 63rd that secured the 2-0 win for Mexico.
With their wins Mexico and Costa Rica can’t be caught in the group stage and move on to the quarterfinals. Group A finishes with the Dominican Republic playing Suriname and Mexico taking on Costa Rica on June 29th.

Edson Alvarez scored for Mexico in the 44th minute to put them up 1-0 going into halftime. Raul Jimenez made it 2-0 in the 47th. Peter Gonzalez got the DR on the board in the 51st but Cesar Montes scored just 2 minutes later to make it 3-1 Mexico. Edison Azcona scored the final goal of the match in the 67th minute.
Mexico survived a scare from Gold Cup newcomer Dominican Republic but the Defending and 9x Gold Cup champions won 3-2.
Game 1 Costa Rica 4 Suriname 3
Costa Rica jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Alonso Martinez scored in the 14th and Manfred Ugalde made his first PK of the match. Gyrano Kerk scored for Suriname in the 34th minute. The half ended with Costa Rica up 2-1.
Suriname took the lead in the 2nd half after Richonell Margaret scored in the 59th and Shaquille Pinas hit a PK in the 64th, but Costa Rica tied it up in the 76th on a goal by Josimar Alcocer. It looked like the match would end in a draw but a Suriname foul in the box led to Manfred Ugalde making his 2nd PK of the match in the 103rd minute.

Game 3 Canada 2 El Salvador 0
El Salvador put themselves in a hole by picking up a red card in the 35th minute. The hole got deeper just before the halftime whistle with the 2nd red card of the half but a 0-0 score. Canada pounced in the second half with a Jonathan David goal in the 53rd followed up by a Tajon Buchanan in the 56th for the 2-0 win.
Game 3 Honduras 2 Curacao 1
Honduras took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd on a Jorge Alvarez goal. Honduras scored again in the 42nd but it was an own goal leading to the 1-1 tie at the half. Luis Palma got the game winner for Honduras 1 minute into the second half added time.
Game 2 Canada 1 Curacao 1
Nathan Saliba scored for Canada in the 9th minute to go up 1-0. It seemed like Canada was going to get the win but Jeremy Antonisse scored for Curacao 4 minutes into the 2nd half extra time to earn the 1-1 draw.
Game 2 Honduras 2 El Salvador 0
Honduras got on the board in the 33rd on a Romell Quioto goal. Dixon Ramirez added a second goal for Honduras in the 5th minute of the second half extra time for the 2-0 win.
Group B is wide open with one match to play. Canada leads the group with 4 points with Honduras right behind with 3 pts. Canada plays El Salvador in their final match while Curacao and Honduras play the other group B match on June 24th.

Co-host Canada got on the board in the first half after a Nico Sigur goal in the 27th minute. Tani Oluwaseyl added a tricky goal 2 minutes into the first half added time for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Tajon Buchanan netted a pair of goals in the 48th and 65th minutes to put Canada up 4-0. Promise David added to the lead in the 74th and Dylan Saliba completed the 6-0 route in the 90th minute.

Both teams had a very evenly played match ending in the only draw in the first round of the group stage.

Game 3 Guatemala 3 Guadeloupe 2
Guatemala took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when Jose Pinto netted a penalty kick. Olger Escobar made it 2-0 in the 29th for the last goal of the first half. Guadeloupe’s Ange-Freddy Plumain converted a PK in the 50th minute to cut into the Guatemala lead. Rubio Rubin scored in the 70th for the 3-1 lead for Guatemala. Matthias Phaeton scored 8 minutes later for Guadeloupe for the 3-2 final score.
Game 3 Panama 4 Jamaica 1
Ismael Diaz got a quick brace with goals in the 4th and 17th minutes for Panama. Jamaica’s Amari’i Bell scored their only goal of the match in the 27th. Diaz completed his first half hat trick on a penalty kick in the 45th minute for the 3-1 halftime lead. Tomas Rodriguez scored the lone goal of the 2nd half in the 89th for the 4-1 Panama win.

Tomas Rodriguez got Panama on the board in the 19th minute for the only goal of the match. With the win Panama leads group C in points and need a draw or win over Jamaica to win the group outright.

Guadeloupe took the lead in the 32nd minute on a Thierry Ambrose goal. Jamaica answered with Leon Bailey goal in the 41st and Jonathan Russell netted the last goal of the match 4 minutes into extra time the first half for the 2-1 win
Panama leads group C with 6 points and also in goal differential but Jamaica and Guatemala are nipping at their heels with 3 points each. Panama plays Jamaica and Guatemala plays Guadeloupe on June 24th in the final group C matches.

Panama got off to a fast start with a 6th minute goal by Christian Martinez. Ismael Diaz added a pair of goals in the 14th and 17th minutes and Eduardo Guerrero knocked in a penalty kick in the 22nd for the 4-0 lead. Guadeloupe did get a goal in the 29th minute by Jordan Leborgne. The half ended at 4-1 Panama.
Florian David scored for Guadeloupe in the 71st to cut the Panama lead to 4-2. Tomas Rodriguez scored the final goal of the match in the 92nd for the 5-2 Panama win.

Guatemala’s Oscar Santis had one goal waved off in the 17th minute for being off-sides. In the 32nd Santi scored the lone goal of the game for a 1-0 over Jamaica.
Group D
Game 3 USA 2 Haiti 1
The US got a goal from rising star Malik Tillman in the 10th minute. Haiti answered in the 19th on a Louicius Don Deedson goal. The teams went into half with a 1-1 tie. In the 2nd half after 2 Tillman goals were waived off (one for a handball the other for offsides) it was Patrick Agyemang that scored in the 75th to give the US a Group D sweep.
The USMNT plays Costa Rica, the group A runner-up in the quarterfinals on June 29th.
Game 3 Saudi Arabia 1 Trinidad & Tobago 1
Dante Sealy got T&T off to a quick start with a goal in the 10th minute. Saudi Arabia got the equalizer in the 60th for the 1-1 draw.
With the draw Saudi Arabia finishes 2nd in group D and plays group A winner Mexico on June 28th.
Game 2 USA 1 Saudi Arabia
The two sides played to a 0-0 draw in the first half. The US controlled the time of possession and had more shots on goal and in the 63rd Chris Richards netted the game winner.
Game 2 Trinidad & Tobago 1 Haiti 1
Haiti got off to a rocky start with Jean-Kevin Duverne picking up a red card in the 39th minute. Out of halftime Haiti got on the board in the 49th on a Frantzdy Pierrot goal. Trinidad & Tobago’s Justin Julian Garcia got the equalizer in the 68th. A late PK by Haiti was sent sailing over the crossbar securing the 1-1 draw and 1 point for each team in group play.
Group D’s last match is June 22nd with the US playing Haiti and Saudi Arabia taking on Trinidad and Tobago. With the win and Trinidad & Tobago/Haiti draw, tournament co-host USA advances to the quarterfinals and needs at least a draw in their next match to outright win group D.

The US jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead after Malik Tillman scored in the 16th and 41st minute and Patrick Agyemang added a 3rd goal in the 44th.
Brenden Aaronson scored in the 82nd and Haji Wright completed the 5-0 win to open Group D play.

Despite controlling 57% of the possession for the match, taking 13 shots, and 11 corner kicks Haiti fell short against Saudi Arabia. A hand ball in the box led to Saleh Alshehri nailing a penalty kick in the 21st minute for the lone goal of the match.
