Eddy Aguiar scored a pair of goals to lead the Cedar Park Christian Eagles to a 3-1 win over the King’s Knights. With the win, Cedar Park Christian clinches a berth to State and a spot in the Emerald Sound Conference Championship Game Tuesday night.
The match began with King’s jumping to a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute when Dustin Le opened the scoring, with a shot from the top of the 18 yard box. In the 24th minute, Aguiar countered for Cedar Park Christian off a long throw in from Nathan Travis. The throw found the cleat of Aguiar to tie the match at one. In the 33rd minute, King’s goalkeeper Peter Bruce stopped a penalty kick from the Eagles’ Beckham Mischel to keep the match level.
In the second half, Eddy Aguiar continued right where he left off. Being left alone along the left wing, Aguiar tallied his second goal of the game in the 42nd minute, sneaking a shot off a deflection by Bruce. Moments later off a corner, Petros Tselios gave the Eagles an insurance goal in the 47nd minute of play, to give Cedar Park Christian a 3-1 lead. The Eagles did not look back.
The defense held strong from goaltender Finn Nichols to secure a state berth for Cedar Park Christian.
With the win Cedar Park Christian is set to play Eastside Prep on Tuesday the 12th for the Emerald Sound Conference Championship at 4pm. With the loss, King’s plays the 3rd seed University Prep in a loser out game Tuesday night at 6pm, with hopes of keeping their season alive.
