It is with a heavy heart that the UFC says goodbye to Allan Nascimento, who tragically passed away at the age of 34 due to a heart attack in his sleep. He was 4-2 in the UFC and had an impressive 22-7 record in his career. He was seemingly entering his prime as a fighter before his death, with a lot of experience backing him up. Age 34 is around the time that a fighter’s body can still perform at a high level while also having the experience in the cage to make them very dangerous. This is exactly what Nascimento was gearing towards as he made a name for himself in the company.
He was a submission specialist in the flyweight division, with 73% of his wins being by submission. A terror on the ground in one of the most skilled and fast-paced divisions in the sport. He was born and fought out of São Paulo, Brazil, and brought that spirit and culture to the octagon. He hovered around the top 15 rankings before his passing and might have broken through the wall with a few more fights. A tragic circumstance for a young and gifted fighter. Rest in peace, Allan “Puro Osso” Nascimento.
