Portland 84, Seattle 82
(Seattle, WA) The Seattle Storm fell behind the Portland Fire at Climate Pledge arena on Friday night trailing 48-36 at the half. Holly Winterburn led Portland’s 1st half fast start scoring 18 of her 20 points to help stake the 12 point halftime lead.
Seattle came out in the 2nd half with renewed vigor shaving the deficit to eight with a 18-14 run in the 3rd. The Storm kept coming back but would fall 2 points short finishing the game outscoring the Fire 46-36 in the 2nd half.
Seattle’s Awa Fam just missed a double-double scoring 20 and grabbing 9 rebounds from off the bench. Jordan Houston did ring up a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Also in twin figures were Ezi Magbegor with 13 and Jade Melbourne had a dozen.
The Storm drops to 7-29 and will host Chicago on Sunday. Portland improves to 14-20 and is in Phoenix on Sunday.
