Two teams going in opposite directions took the field on Sunday. The Vancouver Whitecaps are one of the best teams in MLS with a 10-4-3 record. However the Whitecaps are looking to end a skid of their own after losing all 3 Leagues Cup matches and earning draws in their last 2 MLS games. Seattle started the season hot but the injury bug has decimated their team. After a promising start to the season the Sounders have hit a massive skid going 1-8-0 since their last win. With injuries to most of their attacking players the Sounders are going to have to lean on young players to get them through the rest of the season.

Vancouver 2, Seattle 0

The Sounders protected their home field ending the first half in a 0-0 draw.

The second half was a different story. Vancouver got on the board on a counter attack finished by Rayan Elloumi in the 77th minute. Thomas Muller slammed the door in the 82nd for the 2-0 win.

Seattle was on their heels most of the match ending up with 43% of the possession with 5 shots none of which were on goal. Vancouver finished with 57% of the possession with 19 shots 6 on frame and taking 8 corners to just 1 for the Sounders

Seattle  is now 7-3-8 on the season and plays 4-5-10 Austin FC on 8/19 at home. Vancouver is now 11-4-3 and plays the Houston Dynamo on 8/19 in a battle of the best in MLS.
