(Williamsport, PA) The 2026 Little League World Series began on Wednesday, August 19 and featured 10 teams from the United States and 10 teams from other countries. This is a double elimination tournament.
West 42 Sports is a Washington State based website with an emphasis on teams from the 42nd state. So we are following the Northwest Region qualifier, Soundview LL from Tacoma with short re-caps and links to their team webpage. There is also a link to our full tournament scores and bracket.

Tuesday, August 25
Southeast (Phenix City, AL) 4, Northwest (Tacoma, WA) 2
The Soundview Little League from Tacoma had their journey to Williamsport, PA come to an end on Tuesday. After getting shut out on Sunday they couldn’t lose another game. They took on a team they had already beaten. The Southeast Region winner from Phenix City, Alabama lost to Washington 2-0 in their opening game of the series.
The Phenix City team had drawn a lot of attention because of Kinley Rasmus. Rasmus was on the verge of setting mutliple records at the LLBWS as a girl. She entered the game with a chance to set the record for hits by a girl, she is their starting short stop and a starting pitcher and had 1 win and 14 strike-outs coming into this game.
Rasmus was not eligible to pitch and Jerry Taylor got the start. Taylor kept the Tacoma bats fairly quiet over his 5 innings on the mound. Heading into the top of the 4th Soundview was trailing 3-0.
After a walk to Quinn Herchald followed by a basehit from Kasen Workman and another walk this time to Rhonan Loomis loaded the bases for Frank “the Tank” McCabe. McCabe swung twice to go down 0-2. He worked it back to 2-2 and was sitting on a Taylor fastball and just missed getting all of it but sent it deep to center for an RBI fly-out to get Tacoma on the board.
In the bottom of the 4th, a pop-up to left field got lost in the sun and dropped putting a runner on 2nd. Ryker Rasmus then smacked an RBI single to push the lead back to 3 at 4-1.
In the bottom of the 5th, after a lead off fly-out and a walk, Kinley Rasmus drilled a hard shot into center field setting the record for hits by a girl at the LLBWS with her 5th hit of the tournament. With runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out a high fly ball was lifted to right field by Urijah Berklite and was caught by Artie Hinzman who then threw a rope to home and catcher to Evan Yarbrough who was run over by Easton Allen but Yarbrough hung onto the ball and completed tghe double play.
This gave Soundview one last chance and needed 3 runs to tie. Tyler Landry led off the top of the 6th with a base hit. He would advance to 3rd on two wild pitches from reliever Cedric Harrison Jr. After a fly-out, Smith Huteson would drill an RBI double bringing in Landry to make it 4-2 with a runner on and the tying run coming to the plate.
The next batter Quinn Herchold smashed a line drive to the right side but Alabama’s 2nd baseman made a spectacular grab snatching it out of mid air and instead of likely a 4-3 score and the tying run on, it stayed the same but now with 2 outs. Kasen Workman was next but popped one into the shallow outfield and Phenix City survived the comeback effort and will play again tomorrow.
Soundview had their Little League Baseball World Series come to an end. They finished 2-2 and their pitching and defense carried them as the offense sputtered scoring a total of 8 runs for all 4 games.
The Soundview team roster is Anthony Romero, Artie Hinzman, Smith Huteson, Evan Yarbrough, Bradley Williams, Rhonan Loomis, Frankie McCabe, Paxton Hansen, Quinn Herchold, Kasen Workman, Tyler Landry, Casey Granlund and Winston Weaver. Tacoma’s coaches are Kyle Yarbrough, Albert Weaver and Mark Landry.

Sunday, August 23
Mountain 5, Northwest 0
Soundview of Tacoma could not get their bats going in this Sunday opener and took their 1st loss of the tournament. The two teams were scoreless through 4 and half innings when Mountain blew up scoring all 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th.
Washington’s defense struggled with 3 errors and the offense managed just 2 hits while Mountain had 11.
Washington’s tournament is not over as this is a true double-elimination tournament. Their next game is on Tuesday, August 25 against the loser of Midwest vs Metro game being played today. They have to win 3 games in a row to advance to the final 4.
Friday, August 21
Northwest 4, Southwest 3
Soundview LL took 4-2 lead over the Southeast Region after 3 innings and made that hold up to be the first team to 2-0. Winston Weaver’s eight strikeouts and two multiple run innings lead the way as Washington gets a 4-3 victory against Texas.
Soundview as the NW region team advances to face the Mountain Region U-S team on Sunday.
Wednesday, August 19
Northwest 2, Southeast 0
It was a tight 0-0 game through 6 innings. In the top of the 7th Soundview would score 2 runs and hold the Southeast Region team scoreless for the win. Washington beats Alabama 2-0 in an extra-inning pitchers duel, a two-run single by Kasen Workman in the 7th was the difference maker.
The Northwest Region team advances in the Winners bracket and will next play the Southwest region on Friday, August 21 at 3pm.
