(Seattle, WA) The Sounders snapped their losing streak after a 1-1 draw with Cincinnati in their last match. The Fire are playing their first MLS match after losing to Monterrey in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals. Seattle will be starting their new signing at forward Dejan Joveljić.
Seattle 2, Chicago 2
The Sounders wasted little time attacking in the match with both Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and Alex Roldan getting off quality shots in the first 6 minutes. It didn’t take long for Joveljić to make an impact in the match. He got on the end of a Snyder Brunell pass in the 12th for the 1-0 Sounders lead.
Seattle keeper Andrew Thomas made a huge save in the 27th to keep Chicago at bay. However in the 39th a Robert Lewandowski touch pass led to a goal by Maren Haile-Selassie to even the match at 1.
Halftime Seattle 1, Chicago 1
The Rave Green got another glimpse of Joveljić magic just 3 minutes into the 2nd half. A settling touch and a deflected shot off the underside of the crossbar for a 2-1 Sounders lead.
The Seattle defense got tested often with Thomas making spectacular saves and Kee-hee Kim making a sliding save in the 68th minute. It looked like Seattle was going to get their first win since May but Chicago had other plans. An incredible equalizer goal by Lewandowski in the 82nd saw the match end in a 2-2 draw.
Seattle has their second straight draw and got some playing time for big named players coming off injury. With the addition of Dejan Joveljić can the Sounders make a legit push for the playoffs?
