(Olympia, WA) 3-time All-American wrestler from New Mexico Highlands University and Tumwater High School graduate Easton Hargrave will be hosting a different kind of wrestling camp this summer, one aimed at beginners and kids.

Hargrave a State Champion wrestler and part of the T-Birds last State Football Championship team tells ESN he has easton 3hosted the Olympia Wresting camp for the past 2 years and is excited to expand the program. Hargrave will hold the camp at the Olympia High school mat room where his Dad Greg Hargrave is the Head wrestling coach. But Easton is quick to say this camp is for all kids no matter what school district they attend.

Hargrave says he believes wrestling is one of the greatest sports ever created and tests each person like no other sport can. He also wants to focus on young wrestlers to keep the interest up in a sport that saw declines recently but has kept fairly steady for the past 5 years.

Hargrave says this camp gives kids a chance to decide whether or not this is right for them or at least a chance to experience it. He knows that many kids now will not end up on the mats in the long run but that if there are more kids like him who were hooked right from the beginning he wants to make sure as many kids at least have a chance to experience why others have fallen in love with this sport.

easton 2Hargrave was invited to train at the U-S Olympic training center in Colorado which he calls one of the truly great honors he has had a chance to experience. Hargrave says wrestling teaches both boys and girls some pretty basic lessons of life and truly is a personal test. He loves to see the “light” go on with kids when they start to get what they need to do. Hargrave says you can just see the self-confidence soar with kids when they start having success. He also says with the weight classes it is truly a sport of equal terms. You will wrestle someone that is like you, a unique aspect to only the sport of wrestling.

The camp is set to run July 27-29 and runs from 9am to 11:30am each day. It’s for kids K-6 only and kids should where shorts and T-Shirts or wrestling gear if they have them. Wrestling shoes are not required for the camp and tennis shoes or socks will be ok as well so there is no big investment for parents to have your kids give something a try. The cost is $40 and kids will get a T-Shirt.

The activities will include warm-ups, tumbling, basic techniques, live wrestling, games and a snack. For more information contact Easton Hargrave at: e71hargrave@aol.com or call him at 360-918-6850.
