After losing their season opener in a non-conference football clash with 3A power Eastside Catholic 26-14 in week 1, the AP 4A #8 ranked Kennedy Catholic Lancers have won 2 straight blowouts and will host an improved Decatur Golden Gators team on Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy, (2-1 overall, 1-0 NPSL) have outscored their last two opponents Highline and Kentwood 85-19 in 41-6 and 44-13 wins.

The Lancers look to keep their dominance over NPSL opponents going this week against a Decatur team that started the season with 2 non conferences wins against Jefferson and Beamer before losing their NPSL opener last week to Kentridge 47-14. The Golden Gators were winless last season at 0-10 so winning their 1^st two games in 2022 was a large confidence boost for the Decatur program, and they hope to continue to make strides this season by being competitive in the upper tier teams of the NPSL like Kennedy.

Decatur has a young core of players including 3 freshman starters on the defensive side of things, but offensively a player to watch for the Golden Gators is Nehemiah Washington. The Sophomore running back racked up 6 touchdowns in the 1^st 2 games and over 400 yards rushing. He was held in check last week but if he can have a big game against Kennedy that would be big for Decatur.

For the Lancers, they have playmakers and D-1 caliber talent all over the field. Kennedy has 17 returning seniors, including USC commit Micah Banuelos on the offensive and defensive lines,  linebacker and Arizona State commit Xe`ree Alexander and wide receiver Maclane Watkins has an offer from Portland State and is a major weapon for the Lancers offense.
