The 4A SPSL boy’s’ and girl’s’ basketball Tournament’s began earlier this week and continues this weekend in Tacoma at Tacoma Community College.
On the boy’s side on Tuesday, Sumner got past Rogers in a tight game, 63-58. Olympia overpowered Puyallup 74-41. in another close battle, Bellarmine edged Graham-Kapowsin 54-52. In the last game on Tuesday Curtis stormed past Emerald Ridge 94-46. That set up Sumner and Olympia on Thursday in which the Olympia Bears earned a 58-38 win. On the other side of the bracket, Curtis set up a rematch with Olympia when the Vikings took a 63-53 win over a tough Bellarmine Prep squad. On the girl’s side of the 4A SPSL Tournament on Tuesday, Bellarmine opened up with a first round win over Bethel 72-61. Emerald Ridge raced past rival Puyallup 69-25, Olympia used great defense to beat South Kitsap 53-37 and in the final game on Tuesday, Sumner similarly cruised past Rogers 55-37. Semi-final matchups on Thursday were Bellarmine-Emerald Ridge and Olympia-Sumner. Emerald Ridge got a close win over Bellarmine Prep 62-53 and Sumner defeated Olympia 57-31.
