Last week, the Presidents Cup announced the Captains for the U.S. and International Teams for the 2026 Presidents Cup. Brandt Snedeker was named the Captain for the United States team, and Geoff Ogilvy for the International team. This is the 16th edition of the Presidents Cup and will be played at Medinah Country Club’s Course #3 in September of 2026.
Brandt Snedeker has nine wins on the PGA Tour, and played in the Presidents Cup in 2013. Snedeker played for the United States in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and 2016, where he was 4-2-0 in the two competitions. Snedeker was a captain’s assistant in 2024 for the Presidents Cup and is a vice captain for Team USA in the 2025 Ryder Cup. Snedeker was awarded the 2024 Payne Stewart Award for his outstanding character and sportsmanship. He won the FedEx Cup in 2012 and came close to winning a major, finishing T-3 at the 2008 Masters and T-3 at the 2012 Open Championship.
Geoff Ogilvy is from Australia and has appeared on the International Team three times in a row in 2007, 2009, and 2011. He compiled a record of 7-6-1 in those competitions. Ogilvy won the 2006 U.S. Open in dramatic fashion, outlasting stars like Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, and Colin Montgomerie to win by one stroke. Ogilvy helped oversee the renovation of Course #3 at Medinah, which took two years to complete.
Medinah Country Club is located in Medinah, Illinois. The course has hosted multiple majors and the 2012 Ryder Cup. Three U.S. Open’s have been held at Medinah: 1949, 1975, and 1990. The PGA Championship was hosted twice at Medinah in 1999 and 2006, and Tiger Woods won both titles. The 1988 U.S. Senior Open was also held at Medinah. The 2012 Ryder Cup was one of the most historic Ryder Cups ever, when Team Europe was trailing 10-6 going into the Sunday Singles matches. The Europeans stormed back to win 14.5 to 13.5 and retain the Ryder Cup.
