2A Championship Match May 30th @ 2:45pm

#2 Squalicum 1 #1 Bainbridge 2 (3-1 Shootout)

Bainbridge caps off their perfect season in a shootout over Squalicum. The win earns the Spartans their 2nd state title in program history, their other coming in 2012 in 3A. Squalicum had an early lead on a 2nd minute goal by junior Maddox Strickland for the only goal in the first half. Bainbridge’s Ryder Mortensen got the equalizer in the 50th for the last goal in regulation and 2 overtimes. Senior goalkeeper Cooper Harrington had 3 stops in the shootout clinching the win for the Spartans.

3rd/4th Match May 30th @ 10:30am

#12 Sehome 1 #3 Columbia River 2

Columbia River got a pair of goals in the first half from senior forward Teagan Goaring in the 8th and 33rd minutes. Goaring was the only player in the 2A tournament to score multiple goals. Sehome senior Mason Ivcevic made sure the Mariners didn’t get shut out with a goal in the 60th minute. 

Semifinals May 29 @ Federal Way Memorial Stadium

#3 Columbia River 0 #2 Squalicum 3

Squalicum got a big win over the defending state champions to advance to the title match. Sophomore Crew Johnson got the Storm on the board in the 10th minute for the only first half goal. Another Storm underclassman freshman Oliver Hoglin scored in the 59th and senior Cody McCaulley added the final goal in stoppage time.

Columbia River Rapids GSHL 18-2-1
16th State Appearance

Last year’s State Champions look to repeat and take 3 of the last 4 2A boys soccer titles. After failing to make the state tournament in 2024 the Rapids came back and won the whole tournament. Columbia River has earned a total of 5 boys soccer trophies a 3rd in 2022 2nd in 19 where they fell to Sehome and 3 Titles in 2018, 2023 and last season.

Squalicum Storm Northwest Conference 20-0-1
11th State Appearance

Squalicum is also a 3 time state champion in boys soccer. Winning it all in 2022, 2012 and 2009. The Storm’s only other trophy in  boys soccer is a 2nd place in 2002 where they faced Sehome in the championship game. Squalicum last made the state tournament in 2024 a quarterfinal loss to eventual champion Franklin Pierce.

#12 Sehome 1 #1 Bainbridge 2

Sehome took the lead in the 7th minute on a Kevin Schroeder goal. Bainbridge answered with a goal from Magnus Hauge in the 36 and Will Treverton in the 40th. The Spartans keep their perfect season going with a trip to the 2A title match. Sehome gave a valiant effort but came up just short of another title game.

Sehome Mariners Northwest Conference 18-1-4

28th State Appearance

Sehome has made the final four for the 4th year in a row. Last year a loss to Columbia River in the semis sent them to the 3rd place match just like in 2023. In 2024 the Mariners made it to the championship match but fell to Franklin Piece 2-1. Sehome is the most decorated team in the 2A tournament with 13 total trophies. Three titles one in 2019 over Columbia River with the other two being in 2008 and a 3A title in 2002. Add to that the 2 seconds, 5 thirds and 3 fourths the Mariners have been a staple in Washington soccer for many years.

Bainbridge Spartans Olympic 21-0-0

20th State Appearance

Last year the Spartans made a splash in the 2A tournament after dropping down from the 3A ranks. They took home 4th after falling 2-1 to Sehome. Bainbridge had a Title, 2nd and 3rd all at the 3A level to go along with their 4th place last season. This season Bainbridge comes in as the #1 seed with a perfect record and looking to add a 2A Boys Soccer trophy to their case.
