(Omaha, NE) The 2026 College World series is came down to a final game on Monday night in Omaha. The 2nd seeded Sooners handled the Tar Heels in the opener 9-3. #5 North Carolina answered with a 5-3 win in game 2 setting up the winner take all Monday night game.

Oklahoma didn’t allow the Tar Heels to even be in the game with a 6-1 lead after the 1st 4 innings. The Sooners denied N-C any opening on their way to the 3rd National Title in program history and 1st one since 1994. The final score was 13-2.

The Tar Heels have now played for the big trophy three times and have been denied in all three. N-C lost in 2006 and 2007 both to Oregon State and now to Oklahoma.
