(Tacoma, WA) The 126th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship will be held in Tennessee at the Pete Dye-designed The Honors Course in August. Throughout June and July, there are qualifiers held throughout the United States, and Lake Spanaway Golf Course hosted one of them. Only two players would advance to the U.S. Women’s Amateur out of this very competitive qualifying site.

Winning the medalist honors was San Diego, California’s Sehee Sim, who shot a four-under round of 68. Sim started her day with back-to-back birdies but bogeyed the par 5 9th to go out in one-under. She quickly recovered with birdies on three of her next four holes. She bogeyed the 17th hole but ended her day with a birdie on 18 to steer in a three-under 33 on the back nine and the low round of the day. Sim just wrapped up her high school career at Torrey Pines High School and is heading to UC Santa Clara to play her college golf.

Securing the other qualifying spot was Gianna Singh from Elk Grove, California. Singh went bogey-free with birdies on the 1st, 5th, and 13th holes for a three-under 69. Singh was one shot clear of a playoff with two players at two-under and was the only player to go bogey-free. Singh will be playing her college golf at Grand Canyon University starting this fall.

The two alternates from this site both shot two-under. The first alternate is Donina Zhou from Trabuco Canyon, California, who was at three-under before a bogey on the 18th dropped her to two-under. Bellevue’s Nicole Tang is the second alternate, as she was working on a bogey-free round but bogeyed the 17th hole to bring it home at two-under.
