The safety room in Seattle has been one of the strong points of its defense since Mike McDonald has taken over as head coach. In this off-season, though, Coby Bryant has left the team, and Nick Emmanwori is currently on the PUP list, which leaves some questions as to whether he will be good to go come game one. The good thing is players like Julian Love, who is a Pro Bowl safety, and Ty Okada can hold down that safety position with ease. Also, the drafting of Bud Clark in the second round of this year’s draft keeps the secondary fresh and constantly having players who can rotate in and be effective.

It’s always nice to have more help, though, especially when injuries can be looming around the corner. Former Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson is reportedly working out with the Seahawks today. He was a starting safety for Dallas who played 15 games last year and had 71 tackles, 2 interceptions, and one forced fumble. He is an unrestricted free agent who has not signed with a team yet, and although he is at Seattle’s training camp, it doesn’t mean he will sign with the team. If he did, though, it would bring a veteran into the DB room, and he has been a productive starter for a long time in the league. The Seattle defense is already scary enough, and adding another safety who has seen it all in the league could add another level to the defense, especially for the young players and rookies.
