WF West 5, Centralia 0

(Centralia, WA) On a clear night in Centralia and with the Rotary Cup on the line the WF West Bearcats were prepared to take the cup back to Chehalis. The Bearcat offensive attack came early and often matched with a solid backline they would indeed claim the Cup in a 5-0 shut out over Centralia.

The Tigers did come out in the 1st half battling the Bearcats hard giving up just 1 of the 5 goals in the first 40 minutes. Keeper Courtney Leifer was under steady attack but her solid effort combined with some good defense from Cinthya Trejo-Sevilla and Maddy Alvair only broke down once when Chehalis’ Nereida Soto in the 25th minute. Soto chipped a shot just over the defenders and off the finger tips of Leifer for a perfect shot for the goal.

In the 2nd half the Bearcats looked to bust it open and finally get to the solid Tiger defense and the onslaught began in the 43rd  minute when McKenna Moon drove past the defense and tipped it to Alida Ellingson who hit a low crossing shot for the 2-0 lead. The Cats would add a 3rd goal 7 minutes later in the 50th on another Moon assist this time on a deep throw in that rolled into the box and as Leifer went to scoop it she didn’t see Soto behind her who popped it into the net before Leifer could grab it.

Moon would than finish off the scoring with 2 goals in the 61st and 65th and were both break-away one-on-one’s with Leifer and she was able to knock it past in both instances for the final 5-0 score.

Our Tommy Lowe of the Greene Realty Group Players of the Game went to McKenna Moon for WF West and Maddy Alviar of Centralia. Our ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game goes to Nereida Soto’s 1st goal the low crossing shot which also ended up  being the game winner.
