Adna 68, Toutle Lake 62

(Adna, WA)  There is a slugfest at the top of the Central 3B Boys Basketball League with undefeated Napavine on top and Adna and Toutle Lake tied for 2nd just a game behind when action began on Friday night. The Ducks were in Adna with 2nd place on the line as Napavine stayed perfect posting a 100-68 win over Winlock.

From the beginning this game was back and forth with a slight advantage to Adna with a 12-11 lead after the 1st quarter. The Ducks flipped the script and outscored the Pirates 18-16 to take a 1-point 29-28 lead at the break. Michael Adams led the Ducks with 9 1st half points while Cam Swanson added 7. For Adna Blake Davis had 9 with help from Lyle Metzenberg who scored all 6 of his points in the 1st half and another 6 from Tanner Rigdon but in Rigdon’s case he was just getting started.

The 2 teams would find their offenses in the 2nd half and combined drained 12 3-balls for the game. The Pirates would re-take the lead after 2 quarters going up 46-42. The Pirates would find a couple of their players in foul trouble in fact Cody Young would foul out with just 3 points. Metzenberg and Conner Weed also each played with several fouls and while Metzenberg hit all his points in the 1st half Weed scored his 7 all in the 2nd half.

But it was Adna’s Tanner Rigdon who would step up huge in the 2nd half especially the critical 4th quarter where he scored 15 of his 24 points. Rigdon would score a 3 and 5 field goals but it was at the foul line where he shined sinking 11 including critical shots down the stretch denying Toutle Lake a chance to get closer.

Toutle Lake also made a run but just fell short. The Ducks spread out their scoring with 4 in double figures. Nate Hoff scored 17, 13 in the 2nd half and led TL. Cam Jorgenson also had a big 2nd half scoring 8 of his 11, Cam Swanson finished with 12 and Michael Adams 10 but it was not enough and they took the tough loss dropping to 6-2 overall. Adna now has sole possession of 2nd place at 7-1 and 9-3 overall.
