Black Hills 73, Tumwater 32

(Tumwater, WA) With the WF West Bearcats impressive win over Centralia and the Wolves dominant performance over Tumwater the Bearcats and Wolves have separated from the other 4 teams in the Evco 2A. Black Hills wasted little time in taking control of this game led by Emma Duff. Duff also had a personal mark to aim for entering this game with 977 career points, she was just 23 short of hitting 1,000.

Duff would dig into that 23 points immediately scoring 16 in the 1st half as the Wolves led 22-6 after the 1st quarter and then 40-14 at the half. Brooke Hare hit a 3 at the buzzer for the T-Birds to at least end the difficult 1st half on a positive note.

Any hope of that shot carrying over into the 3rd and hoping the T-Birds could make a run would quickly be doused as the Wolves went right back to work again led by Duff. Emma would hit a pair of 2’s and then still 5:10 left to go in the 3rd Duff pulled up from at least 5 feet behind the 3-point arc and drilled it giving her 1,000 career points. (The title picture is Duff sinking her 1,000th point.) Duff would hit another 3 before being pulled from the game and finished with 26 total points. Interesting point is Duff’s 26 points were 4 3-balls and 7 2-point field goals and no free throws.

Duff would be pulled before the end of the 3rd and the Wolves stretched their lead to more than 40 points triggering a running clock as they led 61-17 after 3. All 10 Wolves who dressed not only played but they all scored as well. Maisy Williams was the only other player in double figures with 11, Lindsay Nurmi just missed with 9.

The T-Birds struggled offensively all night and also struggled getting rebounds with most trips down the floor resulting in 1 shot and Black Hills getting the rebound. Sierra Snyder ground out 18 hard earn points and Brooke Hare hit 3 long balls for 9 points. Hare also had several blocked shots defensively, the problem was that usually a Black Hills player would get the loose ball.

Black Hills improves to 2-0 in league play and 10-1 overall while Tumwater falls to 2-1 and 8-4. Our Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty Players of the Game went to the Wolves’ Emma Duff and Tumwater’s Brooke Hare and our ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game was Duff’s 3-point shot that recorded her 1,000th point.
