(Pasco, WA) Sun Willows Golf Course hosted the 2024 State Championships for Cross Country. Both the boys and girls State Championships took place yesterday, with 4A through 1B, ambulatory/unified, and wheelchair championships taking place throughout the day. Below are the State Champions with links to the full results.

4A Girls

Mt. Si took home the 4A Girls Cross Country State Championship with a team score of 90. Issaquah finished second with 128, and Eastlake took third with 134.

On the individual side, Wenatchee’s Kylah Madariaga won by over 18 seconds, as the senior had a time of 17:40.60 to take home the top spot. Mt. Si’s Hailey Cossey finished second, Bonney Lake’s Latham West took third, Mt. Si’s Aleeya Cossey took fourth, and Olympia’s Sydney Kosa took fifth.

3A Girls

The team competition was a tight battle as Mercer Island defeated Bishop Blanchet by just one point. Mercer Island had a team score of 90 while Bishop Blanchet had a team score of 91, while Gig Harbor took third with a team score of 130.

Mercer Island’s Sophia Rodriguez won the individual title as a sophomore with a time of 16:48.10. Peninsula’s Elektra Higgins finished second, Mercer Island’s Victoria Rodriguez finished third, Cassidy Armstrong from Ballard took fourth, and Taylor Sletner from Gig Harbor finished fifth.

2A Girls

For the fourth straight year, Sehome won the team Girls State Championship with an impressive score of 40. Anacortes had a great day too, finishing second with a team score of 71, and Ellensburg took third with 121.

Sophomore, Lil Desler from Sehome won the individual title with a time of 18:08.90. Lynden’s Sloan Dickson finished second, freshman Grace Beachy from Ellensburg finished third, Cedarcrest’s Lydia Swenson took fourth, and Sehome’s freshman Sloane Clines rounded out the top five.

1A Girls

Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) would bring home the State Championship on the team side of the competition, with a team score of 102. Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) finished in second with 133 narrowly edging Montesano, who finished in third at 135.

Another sophomore won the individual State Championship, as Montesano’s Haley Schweppe claimed the top spot with a time of 18:44.70. Meridian’s Logan Ignacio finished second, Sophia Inglin from King’s took third, Medical Lake’s Kaylee Dennler finished fourth, and freshman Reed Atwood from South Whidbey rounded out the top five.

1B/2B Girls

It was a tight contest in the team competition, as the top three teams were separated by just 14 points. Rainier took the State Championship with 71, Pope John Paul II was right behind at 72, and Saint George’s School was in third at 85.

On the individual side, Saint George’s School’s Regan Thomas took first place, winning by almost a full minute, with a time of 18:20.20. In second was Josie McLaughlin from Saint George’s School, eighth grader Grace Walsh from Manson finished in third, freshman Isabel Bashaw from Friday Harbor took fourth and in fifth was sophomore Ruby Henry from Pope John Paul II.

Wheelchair

Caitlin Shaffer from Cheney took home the wheelchair State Championship with a time of 13:01.60.

Girls Ambulatory

Jillian Muntz from King’s Way Christian won the Girls Ambulatory State Championship with a time of 25:52.20.
