Gig Harbor 4 Timberline 1
The game was tight with Gig Harbor controlling much of the early action. However Timberline got on the board first in the 15th minute. A Blazers free kick got the ball into the 18 yard box but a missed clearance by the Tides was rocketed home by Liam Derickson for the 1-0 Timberline lead. Gig Harbor notched the equalizer on a penalty kick taken by Eli Hanson in the 32nd minute. That score would hold till halftime.
The Tides reeled off 3 goals in the 2nd half in a 6 minute span. Henry Blake got the 2nd half scoring going in the 58th minute with Jackson
Powell adding Gig Harbor’s 3rd goal in the 60th. Blake would cap off the scoring in the 64th on his way to being named our Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP.
With the 4-1 victory Gig Harbor now (12-2-1) will play Auburn Mountainview ,who finished 3rd in 3A last year, in the semis on 5/14. Both teams also earned a berth into the state tournament.
Timberline now (9-7-2) will have to win back to back loser out matches to get to state. Their first opponent is on 5/14 against #5 Capital who they split the regular season series 1-1.

Silas 2 Kent Meridian 1
The back and forth match between the #9 Kent Meridian Royals and the #1 Silas Rams was action packed from start to finish. The match
had big saves and outstanding passing from both squads. Kent Meridian got on the board first when Johnny Chino Lopez took a free kick that found Riley Borman who one-timed the shot home in the 20th minute. Silas responded immediately with a goal from Yusuf Mousa in the 22nd minute. It looked like the game would be tied going into the half but a free kick in stoppage time changed everything. With very little time left Silas sent everyone into the penalty box and had senior keeper Aiden Zawilski take the free kick right around the midfield line. Zawilski’s pass was settled and shot by Caden Grant for the 2-1 halftime lead.
The first half had lots of offense and shooting but in the second half the defenses shined. Silas’ back line of Gavin Hutton, Zane Edmond,
Jackson Winstead and Asa Chamberlin along with Zawilski in goal kept the Royals off the board in the 2nd half. KM’s back line was no slouch either keeper Joey Villanueva made key saves and got great help from Gael Aguayo San Juan, Jeremiah Castro, Francisco Melchor-Alvarez and Victor Oliva Morales to hold the high powered Rams at bay. In the end the 2 goals in the first half were enough for Silas to take the win. Aiden Zawilski with his rare keeper assist and 11 saves in the match was named out Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP.
Silas now 16-1-1 on the season earns their 4th straight trip to the 3A state tournament and will play #12 Bellarmine in the semifinals.
Kent Meridian is now 11-6-1 on the season and is trying to make back to back state appearances. They face #6 Central Kitsap in a loser out match on 5/14 the winner of that match will play the winner of Decatur and White River on 5/16 with a shot at state on the line.
